@eriqp123 How is it that you heard from NU the day after submission when they require your final transcripts in order to consider your application complete?

^^

that was my question as well…maybe he’s talking about the confirmation email that states that they have received the application?

either way, i was talking about an email that states they have received all of my recs/transcripts/etc…

hey guys. just to clear up, I’m an international student so our academic year finished in Dec, so they already have all of my transcripts, and hence my application is complete.

@eriqp123 Oh well that is wonderful! Congrats, and I hope all turns out well for you! Keep us posted on your app status.

@transfer From what I’ve heard/ read, NU is not prompt in responding to their applicants. While I am not certain of this (of course, because it is only May 3rd), it is what I have heard. I also read that some transfer applicants didn’t receive an acceptance/ rejection letter until the second week in July!

So hopefully we all receive our letter much sooner so we do not have to pay cancellation fee for whichever other university we enroll to in the meanwhile.

Good Luck to everyone!

^ I have also heard that NU needing the whole academic year is for rising sophomore applicants, but strongly recommended for junior applicants?

Rising Junior applicant here. I got the application complete email two days after I submitted the common app supplement.

@chicagolak23: Actually, the NU transfers applicants office usually replies to my emails the next day. They’re pretty fast.

RISING SOPHOMORES: Yes, NU requires a full year of courses on your transcripts before they make a decision. What that means is you have to submit your final transcripts to them as soon as your transcript is updated with Spring 2012 grades.

I received an email stating my application was complete the day after I submitted my application (May 2nd). What this means is they probably haven’t looked at my transcript yet and seen that I only have 1 semester of credit. I’m sure they will look soon and send an email requesting the full transcript, which I will send as soon as my grades are available (probably after May 14th).

Hello @CluelessBelle! Dose rising junior need to submit full year transcript? Or they just send you an email and ask you to do so?
Thanks!

Hey folks, quick question to those of you saying that Northwestern requires a year of work to be seen. I just got a denial email yesterday, am a rising sophomore in college, and feel I submitted a competitive application. My courses don’t end until later this week, though.

Why wouldn’t they have seen my second semester grades? Does the website explicitly state that they are looking for a full year?

Has anyone else received a decision from Northwestern?

@baelfire8,
wait so they’re already sending out decisions?
when did you submit your app, just curious.
my guess is that they only ask for second semester if they’re on the edge about whether or not to accept you

hey guys, Northwestern says that admitted transfer students usually have courses completed in liberal arts.

Did any of you guys do any foreign languages in your college/university?

^ Yes.

Bumping lebonsai’s question. When did you submit your app, Baelfire8? Would you mind sharing your stats?

i thought decisions would not be released until the end of May/start of June??

Dam I really want them to see my Spring grades as well.

Sure, no problem. I sent in my completed application around mid-February. I go to a tier one college in the US as an engineering major, got a 4.0 last semester, am looking at the same this semester, and was heavily involved in a mix of extracurricular activities ranging from engineering-oriented, to faith-related, to musical and service-related.

I came from a top 10 high school in my state, graduated with a 3.6, 29 ACT (it can always be higher, can’t it? ), and was involved in honors and AP, which I scored well on. Also involved in a wide range of activities from sports to music to leadership.

I, as we all hopefully do, feel like I submitted a fairly competitive application. My reasons for wanting to transfer are due to not feeling challenged enough, wanting a more academically rigorous curriculum, and not having as many opportunities as I would have hoped in terms of my extracurriculars.

The plan is to take 30 more than last year.

If Baelfire8 didn’t get in into engineering… I’m feeling much less confident now.

I was denied.
