ajkldfjklad;sf; i know i got that email and immediately called my sister and ranted for about 15 minutes…jflajsdkf SO MAD. ok yeah i called the steinhardt admissions officer who told me steinhardt took second semester freshmen and was like “this is what i was told and this is the email i got, can you call me back please and explain this??” but i’m calling first thing in the morning to get this stuff straightened out. If nothing else, Fordham is a really good school (from what I gather) and at least I can be in the city. I was just really hoping for NYU.

im sorry to hear that kmart, but austin is better than fordham! I would suggest waiting for the fall to go to nyu cause then the money will be worth it. hope things work out when you call them tomorrow morning!

Yeah UT Austin is a good school but it’s certainly not for me-I dot really want to stay another semester so I’ll probably go to Fordham and transfer from there if I decide I don’t like Fordham. It’s apparently well respected in the NYC area which is where I want to be so it’s all good.

hey guys…i just wanted to see if anyone could chance me for NYU. I’m pretty sure I dont have the stats to get in, but just wanted some feedback.

California Community College

Current GPA: 3.42 (Biology Major)
EC’s: President of Indian Club @ my college (for 2 quarters and will continue till i transfer), English Professors paid teacher’s assistant (for 4 quarters and will continue till i transfer), tutored for English on campus for three quarters and will continue to do it till i transfer (until spring 2011), Volunteer at Kaiser Hospital (500+ hrs), Volunteer at my college clinic (started this fall quarter and will continue) Research assistant at NASA Ames in a biology lab (started during summer 2010 and will continue till I transfer spring 2011…15 hours a week during school), Honors Student (Honors Program at my college)

OK. Talked to admissions. They messed up and they CAN review me for next semester phew I’m seriously hoping they’ll just let me in after all this nonsense! I am such a suck up though-when I called the admissions officer, I told her how panicked I got because “I really want to go to NYU” and when I emailed the guy back (who emailed me yesterday saying they couldn’t review my app and then emailed me today saying he was wrong and that they could) i was like “thank you so much! i absolutely love NYU so I’m glad everything is all set now”

whatevs. I just want into the flipping school.

I called admissions and said I never got a netid. so i received my net id and then called its and said it didn’t work. the guy said hmmmm… well you’re an accepted student, so wait another day until it’s processed.

@kmart
Glad it worked out i want u to get in b/c for some reason it seems like i would get in if u did haha ;p
Prob cuz we both want to do the same things and got into fordham.

@sloane
Haha tricky tricky. Congrats!! I called today and my app was under review so i might try what u did in a week or two. Good idea haha.

@grapefruit
Everyone is suppose to have a nyu id that starts with N and followed by a bunch of numbers like N12345678. But i thought it was different fom the netid…but it seems like they are the same.

@tallfrodo
I reeeally want both of us to get in. I’m hoping they’ll feel bad about all this business (and since I’ve been in contact with two of the admissions officers I’m hoping that will help me too) and let me into their school! Again, I don’t have the best stats but then again Steinhardt is more about the person and not the numbers, right? And I have a 4 page resume and good rec letters and I did IB. My numbers are okay-nothing special. Is a 31 ACT score in their range? i really hope we both get in! I don’t want to check the net id thing-i think it jinxes it (im a bit superstitious) so i am forcing myself to wait until I get a letter :)

A 31 act score puts u in the top quarter of act scores in nyu so thats good
I emailed an nyu admission officer and they confirmed decisions are being made in a rolling basis and we should be receiving a decision by dec 15th at the latest.

not everyone gets a netid. only those who are admitted and it is usually your initials followed by 3 or 4 numbers. that netid then becomes your email (netid@nyu.edu) and you will be able to log in to the nyu home page and use albert (system to register for class and look at your information regarding term bill, credits, emergency contact, etc.). The university ID is the one that starts with N followed by 8 numbers. You can’t have either of these numbers unless you are an NYU student.

You would think that someone who deserves to go to NYU would understand what a NetID and University ID is and why only some people have it and others don’t. Just sayin.

I’d have to respectfully disagree with your argument about the University ID. I found the email I received last year when I applied. Below is the email.
I believe everyone is suppose to receive a University ID #. If I misunderstood your argument then I apologize.
