I wish you guys the absolute best! Time for me to drive around the very beautiful IU campus once more and then head to LSU Vet School for my brother’s graduation and then to SoCal. After that… NYC! I really hope that by the time I am back on this thread again that I see lots of acceptances. :)

Grades aren’t everything. I went through several schools, and although I maintained a 4.0 GPA at my last school for the two semesters I was there, my cumulative average amongst all my schools is LESS than 3.0 and I was still accepted. NYU emphasizes UNIQUE extracurriculars more than anything. They want you to be able to demonstrate social maturity and the potential to really contribute something to the world. And remember people, private universities are still a business, and they want to make a good business deal. In return for educating you, they want you to emerge into society as a representative of their brand, aka your school, in order to build reputation and to attract more applicants (and possibly get more alumni contributions). So you need to somehow provide them with the confidence that you will be able to do that through your application. Grades don’t necessary show that. A strong essay and presentation of your life is quite key in NYU’s admission process. So keep that in mind if any of you intend to re-apply in the future. Good luck to all who haven’t heard back from NYU yet.

I’m not sure how much ECs matter since mine were terrible, but for the most part, I agree. Essays, I think, are really what can boost your application from the no to the yes pile.

Hey,

I just looked at Albert and it has all of my transfer credits listed. Is that a good sign? I think that someone had that a few pages back and then got accepted. Would they list that if they were going to reject me? It’s probably stupid to get my hopes up, but this is sorta making me nervous.

@marbas it’s a very good sign!

Argh, I wish my transfer credits would show up.

@danny8

Or it could be that they haven’t reviewed your file yet. I know they did not review mine until Weds or Thurs last week because I had a friend check up on the review status. It very well could still be open and they have not reviewed it yet. Still hope!

Same, I’m going to call on Monday to 1) see if they received a fax I sent in early last week, and 2) see if they reviewed my file yet. This wait is killing me. I want to stop obsessively checking Albert every hour for a possible update. I’m beginning to go crazy, haha.

transfer credits showed up today. I want to get excited but I don’t want to feel stupid when I get the rejection letter.

what the eff. they should just send out decisions already.

You guys think we’ll hear early in the week, or are we gonna have to wait until friday?
If we don’t hear by next week I’m gonna phone in and demand a response, this is getting ridiculous!!!

Just got into Steinhardt Applied Psychology! Im transferring from a California CC, I have about 90 units, a 3.9 college gpa and 3.7 HS gpa.

I actually got in on the 12th, but I didnt find my acceptance until now because it somehow ended up in my spam folder. So if you havent heard back and havent checked Id look in there.

Im so excited I can barely take it!

stilll havent heard anything. not happy at all

tithegirl - did ur credits show up?

Guys, better check your spam folders then!

I’m probably going to call on Monday and try to speak to an admissions counselor. I guess MCC is really just one of the last programs to release decisions… I feel a little better seeing that no one from here has received a decision.

I still haven’t received a decision from CAS, and my transfer credits have not shown up on Albert.

Yeah, I just checked my spam. Nothing. But I don’t care, I can wait till monday if it’s good news.

My transfer credits had to have been added either late yesterday, or this morning because there definitely wasn’t anything that showed up yesterday morning. So hopefully I’ll hear something back by next week. But I mean, why would they go through the trouble of putting the courses that will transfer into the system if they were just going to send a rejection? I know that not seeing transfer credits doesn’t necessarily means that you won’t get in because they could just be behind, but has anyone been rejected who also had their transfer credits up?

I’m going insane, I applied for film production at tisch. This is really getting my hopes up.

@marbas if u go back in this thread, you’ll see that no one was rejected if they had xfer credits show up in Albert.

I wish this whole transfer credit thing hadn’t been discovered. Schools should really avoid letting us find these (potential) loopholes.
Now I’m all bent out of shape about not having my credits up… bleh.

@moxiemaya

Agreed. I think its very unprofessional. This whole process has been very unprofessional in my opinion. They keep lying to us, telling us we’ll hear shortly. What they don’t understand is that week after week we believe them and wait by our computers in anticipation. Its really not healthy but there is not a single thing we can do about it.
