Official NYU 2011 Transfer Thread

I realized what I said about our accounts going dead probably isn’t the case because we can still log in. We’re probably looking too far into it. It’s probably a glitch, I’m sure it will be normal again tomorrow/tuesday.

yea I can’t check my transfer credits or application status either:(

everyone having trouble logging in: they’re performing maintenance until 5 ish eastern time. it’s not a rejection!! haha don’t worry. i thought that too.

@sszr27

Thank you! You are my hero! Hahaha

Who else is SUPER nervous?! I’m assuming everyone who hasn’t heard back yet.
So many people have amazing stats and so many of those people have already been rejected.

@brandonstudent
aswesome EC’s. were you accepted?

@sszr27

I’m nervous too! ><
However, I think you have just as good of a shot as anyone else does. I remember reading, somewhere in the previous pages, that someone got in with not so strong stats. So, so there’s hope! Best of luck to both of us and everyone else in this forum that’s still waiting. :)

Thank you! My GPA is decent but I’d think my EC’s were mainly driving my app. I haven’t heard yet. I’m so anxious.

Seriously, the anxiety is killing me.

If we all get in, we should definitely all meet up and celebrate.

If only we lived in a perfect/fair/magical world :)

That too. -_-

Yeah, I too am hoping that an internship I’ve had with a state legislature will help me get in…

Is anyone here worried about financial aid if they do get in? From what I’ve been reading, NYU is horrible with aid unless they really want you.

It’s kinda depressing that a lot of us worked so hard to get in but then just can’t afford it…

@Marbas

i’ve been accepted and i can’t afford it unless i have an RA position for my final two years. they gave me a scholarship and work study, too.

I’m not too, too worried about financial aid. Assuming that most of us have spent 1-2 years at a cheaper school, (I’ve spent 2 years at a state school for like 15k a year), I think two years for $100,000-$110,000 won’t set us back that far. I’m a Tisch applicant, and the only reason I’d be willing to shell out a ridiculous amount of money for a degree is because it is from Tisch, which is crazy impressive. In my opinion, the only other college worth 55k a year at NYU is Stern. If I was an English, Comm, Math, etc. major, I’d just try to go to whichever school gave me the most money; public or private.

Albert is back up!

…nothing changed for me though.

@okletsdoit

yea, the only reason i’m even considering paying so much is because it /is/ Tisch film. otherwise i would just reject admission and move along. though, i’ve only spent one year at a cheaper school as well.

A few admissions counselors at NYU told me that because I will have completed 30+ credits at the end of this year I DID NOT have to send in my SAT scores…I verified this a few times because it seemed to good to be true, and everyone told me that my information was correct. Last week when I was calling to check on my applications for the hundredth time an admissions counselor told me that I actually was supposed to send in my scores…In high school I was not that proud of my sat’s so I had been planning on retaking them if I needed to but now its too late. She said it was not 100% necessary but I just feel like I am at a disadvantage now.

Did anyone who did not send in SATs get accepted?? Sorry for the novel, I am just so nervous haha. (I am trying to transfer in as a sophomore)

@Gloablstudies

I also verified that with my admin counselor the other week, and she said I didn’t have to submit them in. I even asked her if I needed to anyways, because I’m trying to transfer as a sophomore (like you). She just said that my application was completed as is, and I just have to wait until they review it and make a decision.

That’s rather odd that you have to send them in.
