Official NYU 2011 Transfer Thread

I hear you Lauren. I was supposed to be travelling Europe right now with friends, but instead I’m waiting to hear from NYU. If I do get in then I’m gonna have to go apartment hunting immediately. I was supposed to lease my sister’s apartment for the year but she had to give it up last week. Ugghhhhh I’m sooo mad at NYU right now. The other thing is the fact that I overnighted my application a month early because I was told that way I would be one of the first to hear! Apparently not!!

@Marbas - My aid is horrible as well!

Stern scholarship: 6k
Work study: 3k
Grants: 10k

i only have one final left. i honestly think it was my finals that were stressing me out about my admission decision wait. now that im almost done i feel i can just relax and wait to hear from nyu… hopefully it will be positive! i still have no transfer credits showing though :frowning:
and i think im going to get a 89 in my calc class UGH

although cornell needs to have a deposit in by may 27, so hopefully nyu tells me something before then…

I feel like NYU would be better off letting us know how their process works…like telling us about the 7-10 groups from the get-go. It would save us a lot of tension and would save them from some pretty annoying phone calls. We did pay an application fee…

@oldwumpusale: Agreed.

@enve520: Good luck!

@danny8: I would still be traveling and use a smart phone to check on NYU, haha. But in the same boat, if I get in, I’m going to have to apartment hunt asap because I’m pretty sure anyone who gets NYU housing now is going to get crappy pickings or be rooming with freshmen… I just remember how I acted fresh out of high school, and ugh, I wouldn’t want to live with that version/age of me, haha.

Hey guys,

I’ve been reading all of your responses, but forgot my username/password up until now, so I thought I’d join in on the thread now that I’ve taken the time to figure it out… CONGRATS to everyone that got in! The anticipation is killing me! I’m still waiting… Depressingly enough, I’m checking my phone’s e-mail every 10 minutes. Longest wait… ever.

Also, I spoke to admissions and they said all decisions will be released before June 1st… if that makes anyone feel any better, so with process of elimination (now that we’ve figured out that admissions only release decisions every Tues/Thurs), we only have 4 more days left!!!

@Marbas- My family makes <50k a year with four dependents attending four-year universities.
NYU wants me to take out 46k in loans…

June 1st sounds so far away. :(

I just want to know if I got into stern…
i will gladly take on the 46k loan. just let me in.

I had never been rejected from a college until I became a transfer student (lol). I was rejected from Columbia and Barnard, which are the two applications I BS’ed because I didn’t/don’t care. I just want to get a decision from NYU! This has been going on for too long.

@bellatheball I was rejected from Barnard just now as well. Don’t you feel like your chances for getting into NYU slim after being rejected from Barnard? I feel like Barnard should have been slightly easier to get into…

@rhopeful1: I don’t care about Barnard. I really just BS’ed that application from the essays to the supplement questions. Also, Barnard does not offer a strong science program. However, I really did my best with NYU. I took them through my experience visiting the campus, and how it would benefit me as a student there. I mentioned people by name! It would hurt getting rejected by NYU, but the COA would probably put me at ease quickly (lol). I still plan on attending college in NYC though. What about you?

I didnt know that you can submit different versions of the app to different college so my common app essay wasn’t really focused towards Barnard at all. If I don’t get into NYU Stern then I will go to Cornell. But my transfer credits still haven’t shown up so I am getting really nervous…

@rhopeful1 I’m right there with you lol… just let me in!

@rhopeful1: I googled it, and found out that you can create duplicates. Just click on the “Instructions” menu, then scroll down to “Application versions,” and follow the instructions they give to you about doing it. But, I guess it doesn’t matter now.

also, just outta curiousity… did any of you guys apply to sarah lawrence?

Okay, to those who were accepted to Tisch for Film and TV, (and even Dramatic Writing), what were your GPAs? I plan on applying next year, for the fall of my junior year. I had a 3.94 first semester, and a 3.66 this semester. I’m hoping to get back up into the 3.8’s next year.

*CONGRATS TO ALL WHO WERE ADMITTED!!

In addition to my last post:

In other words, what’s a “good” average gpa for Tisch transfers?

Hey guys. To those who have been accepted and have gotten their financial aid, have you tried to accept/decline the awards? Because whenever I try to do so it doesn’t let me, it says:
Data Integrity Error (124,85)

The data structure from the page does not match the data structure in the database. This can be caused by a change in the record definition while you were viewing the page. This is a non-recoverable error and the current transaction will be aborted.

Anyone know what this is about?

@jmatu25 I was accepted to Tisch Film and TV and I have a cumulative GPA of 3.9 and I am entering NYU in my junior year.
