Has anyone heard about housing yet??? I’m super nervous that I’m not going to get a decent dorm or one at all…and the cost of living in NYC is so ridiculously expensive/apartment hunting would be a nightmare. If you’ve heard about housing already, how soon after your acceptance did you get the email??

@moxie - I agree with whoever said do what makes you happy. If you hate your school there’s no point in staying there. However, just as a warning, UCs have TONS of requirements for transfers so you would probably have to go to CC for another year or two to complete them - you’d be better off transferring to a private.

I just received an infraction for inappropriate language…ahhh…it just gets better.

I really want to fax my spring grades, because I earned a 3.92. Has anyone faxed their spring grades? If so, what fax number did you send them to?

I had a 3.82 at the end of the semester, which i was impressed with, so I called the office of admissions. the guy i spoke to told me to take a screenshot of the link that your school gives you with your grades, e-mail it to them, then send your transcript over. i called my school’s registrar and had it sent over on monday. hope this helps.

@Godblessyou - Someone else here said they randomly group applicants into groups of 7 and review them as they get through each one. I don’t think they even really start looking at transfer applications until after the deadline anyway because they’re busy with the freshman applications. idk how the process works exactly, but since I applied 2 days before the deadline too and heard back last week, it’s definitely not based on when you applied.

@moxiemaya - I would go to CC if I were you. It does look bad to jump around from school to school, but as long as you have a compelling reason, I think you’ll be fine. Besides, I don’t think it’s really worth staying in a place and being miserable if you have the choice to leave. If I were in your situation, I would have elected to go to CC over staying another year at my college, too (I really didn’t like my college either. Just wasn’t a good fit).

If anyone’s interested, University of Minnesota - Twin Cities is still accepting applications for fall until June 1. It seems like a similar environment to NYU, it’s much cheaper even for OOS students and it has a good reputation for financial aid. Just a thought - I’m applying there right now as a backup :)

Going to a CC is a good move. It’s probably something I should have considered after high school because I had no idea what direction I wanted to go in, but I was accepted to some schools that seemed interesting and there was a lot of pressure from friends (most of them go to top schools) and my family.

I have a feeling that giving compelling reasons for transferring from a CC is a lot easier than 4 year public or private university. Instead of saying that you don’t think your current school’s program is any good or you don’t like the location (obviously no one phrases it that way), you can just say that you want to pursue a degree from a 4 year institution.

At the end of the day, the credits you’ll earn from a CC will be converted into credits at whatever school you end up at.

for all of you guys freaking out about living in ny, in case your housing at nyu turns out to suck a lot - i currently go to school in new york, i have a number of friends at nyu, and most of them, at this point, are moving “off campus” because nyu housing is so so so expensive. i know it sounds like a sort of horrifying prospect, but craigslist exists and its not that difficult to find an apartment, especially last minute - most places are filled just days after the last tenants move out, anywaiz. also, like, don’t write off brooklyn. brooklyn’s the best, plenty of nyu kids i know live there (well, here). again, i’m sure it sounds moderately terrifying to move to new york and not be living under the safety net that is nyu housing, but there are other options. also, like, once you have friends, if you have friends (i’m kidding), then you’re not going to want to deal with signing in and rules and things anywayz. fyi, y’all. f.y.i.

Yes. My transfer credits showed two days ago, I called them, and they transferred me to an admissions officier and who told me that I was accepted. The official letter/email has yet to come (SO annoying), but there has been movement on my account with financial aid.

Hopefully you don’t have to wait six years like I am to get the letter!!

Do you think I should re-contact the admissions office about the status of my app to make sure nothings wrong? On April 28th, I emailed them and they told me that my application was complete. Since then, I haven’t heard anything. I know a lot of folks have been calling, so I was just checking to gage how they may react to a phone call re-confirming a confirmation (ha).

Hooray! My transfer credits showed up! Although no AP credits went through :(. (Calc 2 went through, but Chem and Calc 1 didn’t get through, huh?). Should I call the AP office to send them the scores or just show them my college transcript and point out that I got credit for these APs?

I told US, WH, Calc, and Chem, and according to my friend, I wouldn’t get credit for US or WH anyways.
