Official NYU 2011 Transfer Thread

@Monoclide

I totally would email my admin consoler again, but after that rude email I’m kind of scared to do so… ;A;

Actually, just as I posted that, my email said Inbox (1):

I have to respond to a school by May 27th, should I email NYU?

@Monoclide: Congratulations! What’s your major?

congrats @monoclide!!

@xpandachuy, aww wow, i’m sure this semester won’t affect the decision that much if you didn’t have to send a mid-semester report. Wouldn’t you application be from the first semester? I hope that your last semester did not change your chances of getting in. Your health always comes first so I hope you get in so it will cheer you up! haha

@benellis… after hearing that people have emailed, I literally just emailed them myself. I tried to just ask when i would know about the decision without sounding rude :p

CAS: Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies. :)

Accepted today into nursing. My transfer credits never showed up (they still haven’t) so don’t give up if yours aren’t there! :)

congrats @brickbybrick!

i have been checking my transfer credit page 9384098324 times a day! On the NYU website, it said they will only evaluate your credits if you’re accepted so it’s my only hope for knowing before the actual letter :stuck_out_tongue: but it’s strange how some people have it posted before and some after, NYU is all over the place! haha

congrats again!

@aszcek, yeah, I didn’t have to send one in, so… hopefully, it won’t for now. I’m so scared that they’re going to accept me, and then see my grades and be like ***f?!! My adviser, who is also a dean, said that if that’s the case she’ll write a letter to them or something to further explain the situation.

I probably will be happy with the letter, but I’m going to get myself all stabilized mentally/emotionally over the summer with a psychiatrist. So, I should been fine sooner or later~

And, and hopefully you’ll get accepted too! (along with receiving a good amount of financial aid) We can totally hang out and such! haha.

@xpandachuy
yeah i think once you’re accepted, i don’t think they can take it back? I could be wrong though but i’ve never heard of someone being accepted and then once they send the final transcript, the offer was taken back so i think you’re safe!

yes i hope so too! an i know! after finding this forum, I am so thankful I’m not the only one freaking out over this wait! and if all the accepted students end up going to NYU, we can all run into each other/hang out!

I had a C+ last semester. They still accepted me and offered transfer credit.

I think as long as you are not failing (D or below), then you are fine.

@aszcek

I hope so… I would be so like ■■■■.

And I think transfer decisions are the worse. Normally, there’s a set-in-stone date. Transfers is like we’ll get to you soon. -_-;;

Yes, that sounds so fun! Just wondering, are you dorming, if there’s any rooms available still, if you get into NYU? Or are you going to rent a room somewhere?

when does STERN release their admits? and is there a thread for students who were accepted showing what school they got accepted/rejected? can’t find a real thread

@ Monoclide, REALLY?!! :DDDD

I have two C’s and 2 A’s

You just gave me so much hope. Thank you~ <3

@xpandachuy
I will most likely be dorming. I live in New Jersey so I know a lot of people at NYU/in the area and I might get an apartment with my friend who goes to NYU. Although, she is studying abroad for the fall semester so I might as well get a dorm for my first year and then I’m planning on living off campus in Brooklyn or somewhere cheap(ish) in Manhattan for my second year
When I went to a information session this year, they said housing was guaranteed but I’m not sure what the status is now since they did have a lot of freshmen choosing on-campus. My guess is that they should still have some since they guaranteed it

@mspivey2 & @car247: I finally got in touch with an admissions counselor who told me my application was almost an “automatic rejection”, because I have not shown college-level proficiency in math. So, she gave me the number to 2 guys at CCNY. Hopefully, the math course I took this spring will satisfy the requirement. At this point, I don’t want to go to school anywhere else, but in the NYC.

@aszcek
Ahh, I see~
I only know a few people in NYC. (I’m from California, btw) Your plan is the same plan that I have for myself! But I heard that there was no more space for dorming, so if I get in I’ll probably be renting a studio or something.

so ummm just to clarify, all of you people who applied to MCC havent heard anything right? im stressin hard :/

@bellatheball: i haven’t taken a college-level math class yet either! i just finished my freshman year. the guy at hunter told me that my SATs should fulfill their proficiency requirements for reading, writing, and math though. i had them sent but it seems like they weren’t received or something ugh

@gooberfish1: nope i still haven’t heard and transfer credits haven’t shown up either. i’ve given up trying to contact the school and get info about when i should hear because it seems pointless now and i have lots of other things to worry about!

@Bellatheball what are your stats? That sounds crazy that they would automatically reject you for a math issue…although there is an admissions entrance exam that you have to take as a freshman if you didn’t take the SATs or if you got a low score in math or English, so I guess they require something similar for transfer students?
