Official NYU 2011 Transfer Thread

@mspivey I don’t have spring credits (but I have fall), accepted on the 17th of May.

accepted steinhardt MCC on May 31st

Rejected this morning for MCC.

3.88 GPA with 75 units.

C.C.C. junior transfer

Onward to usc or ucla! Ahhh

Rejected as a junior transfer from MCC with a 3.85 GPA, an internship with Clear Channel and 78 credits.

Cool- Thanks for making me wait until June 7 to tell me you rejected me, you stay classy and professional NYU ;)

Onward to U MIAMI 2013!!

baha so i called today, and was like “hey, i still haven’t heard yet…can i check the status of my application?” so the lady was like, “sure.” (pause) “hmm, thats funny. the system indicates that you were sent an e-mail on may 25th.” i didn’t get an e-mail. so i asked her to resend it, and she said i’d get it in the next 24 hours. it’s weird, because i haven’t received anything via snail mail, and there’s nothing on my albert. i’m anticipating rejection, but whatevs. has this happened to anyone else?

3.86 and rejected from MCC.

Dang all of us 3.8’s just went down… tisk tisk

Waitlisted: Tisch - Dramatic Writing

College: Average NJ state school
College GPA: 3.75
HS GPA: 3.6
Credits: 61 (will be a junior in the fall)
SAT: 1800
Essays: Good, I hope. (They better be. I am a writing major, after all.)
Letters of Rec: 2: 1 from Radio Communication professor. 1 from high school guidance counselor.
ECs: Honors College, Film Club, TV Club, Web author for a college review website, Mens’ Tennis Team

Do any of you who were rejected with very good GPAs like all you with 3.8s what is it that you think got you rejected? Do you think they are simply running out of space? Did you get good reccomendations? Its worries me to think that even 3.8s are getting turned away.

Seriously, I have no idea. My HS GPA are bad but I guess it doesn’t matter. My essays may not be perfect depends on how you think but definitely well-written. My EC’s are decent, leadership, sports, volunteer, and study abroad. I made dean’s list every quarter except one, honors program, PTK, and I believe one of my REC is good and others are okay.

I feel ridiculous of how they work this year. They review MCC as their last group. What if they are just running out of space and we are better than those who got admitted earlier? I know that I don’t have a definite shot, but I still doubt the process has hurt my chance.

I am thinking about emailing them to find out my reason of rejection. I believe it is my right to know even the result won’t change

Accepted

Tisch Film/TV production

3.1 GPA from Mcgill University
decent extra carrics
great film portfolio

Do you think nyu can retract their decision if I didnt do well in the second semester?

@danny8 – As long as your class grades didn’t fall below a C average, you should be fine. You should only “worry” if all of your classes are C’s or below. If this is the case, I would give them a call and/or write a formal letter explaining the grades you received, and then hope for the best.

Waitlisted for CAS with 62 credits.
Current: 3.855 GPA in Honors Program

Whomp, whomp. I still sent in my form to stay on the waitlist, haha.

@Danny - Why did you leave McGill, if you don’t mind answering? I was thinking of going there if I didn’t get into NYU.

I got waitlisted for CAS with a 4.0 GPA., great recs, good essays and ECs, but my HS grades were really really bad. I think they’re just running out of space. It’s funny that my application status still shows up as incomplete on Albert though.

Any incoming drummers?

@ caligulahorse
McGill doesnt have a film program haha
Also McGill professors are arrogant and have inflated egos
Its impossible to get a GPA over 3.5, nevermind a 4.0!!!

Question:

How are you paying for NYU?

so anybody else waitlisted? i’m actually not feeling too bad about it. seeing how most of the people who posted on here mainly either got accepted or rejected, i’m thinking the waitlistees have a half-decent chance, especially cuz NYU is expensive as nuts and doesn’t really throw financial aid around. i’m hoping some of you acceptees out there can’t afford it, so i can get off the waitlist, and then realize that i can’t afford it either  baha

i have a question…
For the PLUS loan, are my parent supposed to pay it? Or me?
