Official NYU 2011 Transfer Thread

To people who haven’t ever lived in/near NYC, it’s exciting to be there. Some may have never seen NYC before either.

I’m assuming ntrading you, like me, grew up near NYC?

Personally not a big fan either, and SoHo is a bit close…

I just joined this thread because I am sooooo anxious right now.

So…just like @Kmart… If I got a NETID…what does that mean…anyone?

@rnjsdbsk i think it means we’re in!! you only get a netID if you’re admitted…and when i logged in/made a password it took me to a page with housing stuff and class info etc which non-admits probably wouldn’t gt taken to…

@kmart Seriously? Am I dreaming? I called my friends in NYU and they were like congrats, but I just want to make sure!!! and…i was so nervous that i just clicked agree and made password and stuff like that… I didn’t get to memorize my NetID! :(((((((

@rnjsdbsk yeah! i think that’s how it works! congrats to you! this is so exciiiiting!! i memorized mine but i’m sure there’s a way to find yours again :)

@Kmart So i just called in and they gave me my netID, but I can’t do anything when I log in…i mean…I see like the registration, but it says that it’s not available yet. is it because I applied for spring semester?

You can’t register for classes until orientation on the 20th and 21st of January - if that’s what you’re asking?

@nyu oooohhhh yes. Thank you! but so is it for sure…that…only people who got accepted get this ID? I’m still anxious!!

I’m not entirely sure. Some schools provide NetID’s to admission candidates - but that is usually only the case for schools in which application materials and application status can be reviewed online. I’m not sure what the case is for NYU.

Browsing other CC threads though, mainly

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/new-york-university/316456-when-how-can-i-get-my-nyu-email-address.html

it seems that NetID is only for accepted students.

Yeah. Net ID is for accepted students. All applicants receive a randomly assigned University ID. I posted this in the first few pages of the thread.

I believe now the speculations were true. All signs seem to point out that that the people who can generate a Net ID are accepted students.

@NYU thank you so much for your help! I am official?! YES!!!:DDD

@Mitch Your info concludes everything. EVERYTHING. thank you!!! >_<

yay! congrats to everyone else!! :D

Having just come off of the Columbia ED thread, I can positively say I’m glad most people aren’t as obsessed with getting into NYU as some people are with Columbia…

and congrats rnjsdbsk =)

Congrats to all of those who have been accepted. Don’t forget to post your stats when the official mail comes in. Please, please, follow the formatting rules. So far we only have one person who formatted and followed directions correctly.

@NYU thank you!! again!! ;D

@Mitch will do so :)

hey another quick question–i was messing around on the NYU home page and looking at housing and stuff and it took me to this page where it said my housing was “non-renewable”…does that mean i didn’t get housing? Because I can’t go to the school without housing…

alsoooo called NYU and they confirmed my acceptance!! and she said that i should be good to go with housing so i guess that means that maybe it is nonrenewable until i give them my deposit?

@Kmart Me too! I called NYU this morning, got confirmed and got an email about housing  so pumped!.. I can’t really give you the answer to the question though… sigh…sorry :/!

Anybody know if they’re receiving financial aid? And how much?
