Hey all, I applied for Fall 2011. I submitted my common application Feburary 3rd and today (Feb 8th), I received an email saying they received my application.

I also received a University ID: NXXXXXXXX as well as a NetID. Does anyone know what this means?

This can’t possibly mean I got in did it…

No football, it means that they have your application.

did people all send aplication for the Fall?

one person reads my essay and he says it is ok
another person read it and say that Im telling about 10 stories,
another person said that the essay was quite ignorant.

OMG, Im so confused right now. Should I keep fixing until three of them are satisfied. lol. Is there any chance to know more information about the admission counselors?

@football462

What is my NYU NetID?

What is my University ID (N########)?

@moya90

That is why you do not show your essay to everyone. You will receive conflicting advice causing you to change (most often for the worse) your essay. Stick to one or two people that are reliable and can guide you in the right direction.

Right, I understand the difference between the NetID and the University ID.

Earlier in this thread, people mentioned that if you received a Net ID, it means you probably got admitted as the NetID is only for admitted students.

I thought it was weird that I received and successfully activated a NetID that NYU had emailed me and wanted some insight as to what this might mean for me.

I’m waiting until mid march to submit my application so I can revise my essays until then. But thats just me. At the same time, I want to submit it early so I can track my materials.

footballer, I am a longshot, but they sent me one right away. They dont have my transcipt yet and I the cover email said they look forward to reading about me.

@kayf

Yeah thats exactly what they said about me. I’m pretty much a longshot as well.

I guess we’ll wait and see.

They might have realized that since so many people in years past have been trying to get their decisions early by finding out their NetID’s, if they simply sent everyone NetID’s already it would eliminate such opportunity. Complicated solution, but given NYU’s size, such a direct solution might be easier to implement than say, rewriting programming and procedure for normal students.

when is the deadline to apply as a transfer for the 2011 fall semester?

I think I read March 1st, right?

April 1st.

Has everyone started applying or started on their essays yet??

Started on my essays. What kind of essays are you guys writing? Mine just explains reasons why I want to leave UM, and attend and NYU. They’re not narrative, like many freshman essays are.

Was going to apply to Northeastern as well, but their deadline is March 1st, and I won’t be done by then. BU and NYU it is, then.

I’m a Sophmore and a Biochemistry major at Stony Brook University. My cumulative GPA is 3.80 and my major GPA is 3.75 (at stonybrook, 3.83 with the one semester I did at Suffolk). I am currently a T.A. for both Organ and Mammalian Physiology as well as for General Chemistry I, II. I have letters of Rec. from Dr. Cabot of Neurbiology and Behavior at SBU and Professor Bradley Tooker from Undergraduate Chemistry. I’m also part of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Alpha Epsilon Delta (pre-health honor society). My one concern is my Calculus II grade in which i received a B, however, the rest of my science grades are A’s.

I was hoping to get some feedback as to how I stack up so if anyone has any comments or suggestions they would really be appreciated!

How did you guys do the application?
just complete it and the supplement?

Should I send some art supplement as well even though economics is my major?

In the case they didnt give me NYU ID, should I just send the materials with the SSN outside. My mother says that it would be absurd to do so. lol

@jmurphysunysb: my calculus was B- but my statistic was A. I guess that we are not math major anyway so it should not be a problem.

Does anyone know when they will start working on our transfer application? By april the 1st?

Does anyone know when they will start working on our transfer application? By april the 1st?

More like AFTER April 1st.

Unless you want your identity stolen, I would follow your mother’s advice. Never share or use your SSN unless you are absolutely required to do so. In this case, just send your transcripts, LORs, etc. They’ll figure it out. Trust me. Schools have their methods of sorting through paperwork.
No.
Probably start on April 1. The website states you will be notified by beginning to mid May. It might even be early June.

@MitchAPalooza: thank you so much for letting me know. ok :D

@everyone: hope you guys spend enough time for the essay. These days, I feel that I could have worked harder on the essay but I already submitted it. I feel very regretted

oh, then how many recommendation letters are needed?
do they need something from my advisor?
do I even need to send the mid year report? Im not sure if my classes will have grades after the spring break. @_@

So where does everyone plan on living if they get in at NYU?
