Official NYU 2011 Transfer Thread

Yes. It is ambiguous but if the deadline is March 1 you should be expecting a decision around that time. I’m hypothesizing but the sooner you turned in the application the earlier you’ll know the decision.

haha yes that is what “rolling admissions” generally means -_-

does anybody know when they will mail out the decision letters for transfer students?
will we get them by the end of april? i applied back in february and i can’t stand this waiting!

sent in my application this afternoon. Does anyone know how long it takes to get the ID number or whatever NYU sends you?

hey guys, a quick question.

What did you do about your high school teacher’s recommendation letters? Did you only send college instructor recommendation letters?

I would love to know the answer to that question too! I submitted the final part of my application on monday

Hey! I have a question… For the personal essay… does it have to be what the common app says? Because I went to a tour of NYU earlier this year, and they said it could be about anything… but the app online says

"Please provide a statement (250 words minimum) that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve.

Which is it :X? :frowning: :frowning:
Note: The Common Application essay should be the same for all colleges. Members that wish to review custom essay responses will request them on their Supplement form.
Your essay will appear on a separate sheet at the end of the application. "

called admissions office today and apparently internal transfer decisions will be released “within a week”

given NYU’s record, i am interpreting that means somewhere in between 7 and 21 days from now

can someone please tell me whats up with the college official’s report? is this form required or not? i went to my advisor, she told me to go the registrars office and they told me to go to my advisor to get this done…i hope this form isn’t required because its gonna be such a burn getting this form completed ha. someone please let me know, and quickly! the apps due in like a week…

archaels, I’d listen to what NYU says (or maybe that’s what I hope). A good 3/4 of my essay has to do with people from history who’ve inspired me and then the last paragraph is why I’m transferring and what I hope to accomplish. I don’t think they really care THAT much that you follow the prompt (I could be wrong though). I think they’re just looking for an essay that has an attractive personality and intellect.

alexxxxx, does your adviser have access to your grades? I think the person that fills that out just has to have access to your grades and your disciplinary record.

I’m getting excited though. I finished my essay yesterday and got someone at my school’s writing center to look at it and he did nothing but compliment it. I’m gonna have someone else look over it on friday, submit it, pay, and then I get to play the waiting game…again…

yayyy

Submitted my app today. I didn’t know we needed both the Instructor eval AND a recommendation so that’ll probably get there a little late. And if the transcripts take as long to get sent as they did for USC, my app won’t be complete for another 4 years…haha

I am currently senior in HS and I applied to NYU Steinhardt (Applied Psych) in 2010. And NYU is the school that I have been dreaming for…Well… guess what. I got the rejection letter today…sob So… I decided to apply as a second semester (spring) freshman transfer… I am sorry guys. It is actually 2012 transfer. Anyway, when I looked up NYU website, they don’t have course requirement page for Steinhardt applied psychology. Does anybody know what are the course/credit requirements for applied psychology?
Thanks!

coolio you dont need an instructor evaluation and a recommendation, just the recommendation i’m pretty sure.

Received a notification yesterday reminding me to complete my common app and have officially finished/sent-off my transfer app to nyu tisch school of film and television. So two months of misery now?

For those who submitted their applications this last week, have you received your net id numbers yet??

Did anyone else get an e-mail from NYU admissions on Monday reminding them to submit their commonapp ?

I have no idea how I’m going to wait for two months! Especially because Tisch transfers have to start in summer sessions in July. Hardly any time to plan anything

Cityfilm, I too applied to Tisch and was also worried about the time gap. I did not get the Email from NYU because I submitted my app about 2 weeks ago.

What I am more worried about is when I call the Tisch school of FTV and ask if my portfolio has arrived safely, they say they wont be able to tell me till about 2-3 weeks. =___= I hope its there safely and won’t be lost somewhere.

I just talked to a admissions ambassador and he told me that no news is good news and that NYU will contact us if we are missing anything

Clutchm - it’s so frustrating! Summer sessions start in either May or July so I suppose we’ll start in July if accepted. I’m so stressed out because I have a great internship offer for the summer and they want an answer by April 16. I doubt we’ll have heard back by then.

Anyway - it will all be worth it if we get in!!!

indeed hopefully we all get in!

I haven’t had time to request a high school transcript, but I’ve applied to NYU before and I think sent them my transcripts twice…do you think they’ll still have it on file? or do I have to deal with it being late?
