Where is everyone getting the idea that they’ll be sending admissions decisions at the end of the week? The student ambassador I spoke to told me they’d be sending missing materials emails at the end of this week and the beginning of next week.

@tofu, hm, all of those stats look like mine (sans the SAT score…I think I’m going to retake my SATs for pride…they’re so embarrassing), so I think it’s looking good for me (well, obviously you’re not absolutely in yet but signs point to yes).

And you did apply ~20 days before me, so I’m feelin’ good. hahaha

Well, not completely good. Penguins dropped Game 6 against the Bolts. I’d kill to go to NYU just so I could go to Rangers/Penguins games.

well, tofu, congrats!!!

What day does it say that your application was received?

I hand-delivered mine on the 28th or so, but it says they received it on the 31st.

Has anyone been accepted to NYU Steinhardt for Fall 2011 yet? My friend was accepted to Gallatin a little while ago, which just made me more anxious.

@benellis
I applied to the Steinhardt Media, Culture, & Communication program and I’m still waiting on notification. My application status & transfer credit are still the same (missing nothing but I’d really like some transfer credits as a hint!)

What is your potential program?

do u guys really believe if you see the credits u got in? and also, how heavily do u think they weight sat… honestly… i no NYU is known for saying that they are generous towards SATs and low scores but i think thats a lie, what do u think it is? part of me feels they dont even look at kids that score under a certain number

@Monoclide - Same hting. I know for a fact I submitted my application several days before the 3st, but it says I submitted it on the 31st anyway.

@Srivera617 - Hard to say about the SATs. I would personally think NYU would look at applicants holistically, but I imagine having an SAT score far below the average would probably hurt you, as it would in most schools. I wouldn’t stress over it, though; there’s nothing you can do about it now.

It’s sad to know that kids that got a higher score on the SAT than me dropped out of the same college that I’m doing spectacularly in. I really hope NYU doesn’t look at my SAT at all…=S

I know my SAT will be taken more heavily since I’ll be entering as a sophomore (assuming i get in)

My overall score was 1880 (710M 550R 620W) yeah…bad reading score
I took Math II SATII and got a 790 and the Bio-M i got a 700.

On my mid-term report my English teacher did write I was an “excellent writer” I’m not sure how much this is all weighed. I’ve gotten A’s in both of my college English classes (1st semester and mid-term for second semester)

Thankfully SCPS doesn’t require SATs. :D

Oh, I meant to ask–does anyone know NYU’s policy on unofficial transcripts? Do they use them? I would’ve called and asked, but I didn’t have time to today. Since they lost my college transcript, I had to get my college to mail it again. This time, I decided to have them fax it too for good measure, though the registrar said they’d only fax unofficial copies. I had them fax it regardless; I’m hoping NYU can use it and give me a decision sooner. If not, I figure they can chuck it in the trash and wait for the official one via snail mail.

@vihzel – all NYU schools require SAT’s unless you have completed over 30 credits. it doesnt matter if your in the process… your transcript has to be 30 credits or more. After this semester i will have about 36 credits but i applied with only 22 so i had to send my SATs to SCSP. they did require them
and my score was a 1740 but GPA is a 4.0 – any thoughts???

@caligulashorse
I don’t think it will be a big deal if you have them fax an unofficial copy and have them mail it again… if we get in they have us remail our transcripts again so…I think you should be fine. Plus, I sent in stuff late (my college adviser form, he left for Chicago with out sending it) and they have it marked off on my albert as received now and I emailed an admissions councilor and they said it was fine.

@Vihzel:What major you apply for?

I think everyone on this forum just needs to relax. Also, for people who have their transfer credit listed I hate to burst the bubble but I’m pretty sure that just means they have reviewed your transcript with the various offices of the admissions committee and determined which courses would hypothetically transfer. Of course, it could also mean you got in, but I know that they draw up a rough sketch for every applicant of how he or she would stand credit wise upon acceptance to the school.

@football462: NYU gives you a choice of which standarized test scores you want to submit. Since your SAT I scores don’t seem to measure up to their standards (mine too), then you could have just submitted your SAT II scores.

I think if you all are worried about missing materials, do what giantmidget did. Call NYU and ask to be transferred to an admissions counselor. It worked for me and he told me that they have everything, which is such a relief.

@bellatheball well I only took 2 SAT II tests, I never took one in the humanities or literature :

@football462: I think that’s fine. What’s your intended major? Besides, your SAT scores blow mine out of the water. I just hope they can see past my SAT scores.
