Official NYU 2011 Transfer Thread

what does it mean to be accepted into fall as a second semester sophomore? is it so in Spring you are considered a junior? sorry for all the questions I am getting quiet nervous after all the rejections

@ellomeno you are just asking questions that we cant really determine. its up to nyu to determine your standing. someone could have 80 credits but be a second semester sophomore or something. it depends on your major, credits transferred, and all types of things.

how many years have you been in college? if this is your first year of college, you applied as a sophomore, but could be admitted as a sophomore or freshman.

if this is your second year you applied as a junior, but could be admitted as a sophomore or junior… maybe even freshman… it all depends on the details of your major, classes, and whether they transferred or not.

some people do graduate the end of fall, so actual classes in college get shifted.

with 55 credits completed, you are at a neutral position i think. the only reason its harder for sophomores is if their hs stats werent as good, then it can pull them back some.

this is all general, IMO stuff.

@enve520 oh okay I had no clue people kept mentioning they applied as juniors and I was wondering how they knew? thats all
i have been in college for 1 year

thank you for your help and given me your opinion!

@cityfilmtran

dude, i’m so sorry. i applied to the same program as you. haven’t heard back yet, though. ahhhhh.

I’m sorry… but what happened? I think i checked this thread really late… so many pages!

@ moniso

Rejection letters went out.

I’m not sure, for those that didn’t get one, if this means we’re potentially accepted… or our applications are incomplete… or still haven’t been looked at.

I hate this anticipation >.<

oow… :frowning:
I woke up with the wish that I had an email from Tisch …apparently I’m luckly I didn’t…

Even rejections from steinhardt went out today??

@ladida28

I believe some people here have posted that they’ve been rejected from Steinhardt.

Well, I think our records are not fully verified yet, and I just have a very negative anticipation about the NYU admission for this year. I called them a couple days ago to double check my admission progress and to ensure my materials have all been received, and the officer gave me some rude attitude which made me feel like I will likely be rejected. I hope it is just because their attitude is bad.

do you guys think acceptances will go out tomorrow? or more rejections?

I really hope they won’t be so brutal and that they release more acceptances

has anyone followed last year transfer thread? what was the theme like for acceptance & rejections?

Oh, god. I just read through all those posts, and… man, I have no hope now :(

I’ve been accepted into every school I’ve applied to except for NYU now, and it’ll be a kicker if the school I want to get into the most is the only one to reject me.

Also, I’m curious–why are they asking for midterm grades now? I mean, isn’t everyone taking/finished with final exams now? Why not just ask for final grades?

@caligulashorse

Maybe because final grades won’t be available for a week or two? For instance, at my school, finals end on the 11th, and grades are released on the 18th. That would cause a long delay in the admissions process.

TO EVERYONE WHO APPLIED TO STERN:

Who got rejected, and who didn’t?

I didn’t recieve ANY email from NYU today, whether it be a rejection letter or a letter stating that my mid-term report is missing.

Please let me know EVERYTHING about what is going on with you guys.

I am FREAKING OUT!!

Ah, I suppose. My final exams finished today and I’m leaving North Carolina for home tomorrow, so I’d be hard-pressed to get midterm grades if they asked :/

I still can’t believe you guys got rejected with 3.9s and 4.0s. Were there any weaknesses to your applications you can think of? My high school record is really unusual because of extenuating circumstances, so I’m afraid it’ll hurt me.

@moniso

what department in tisch did you apply for?

Oh, and @ellomeno - I read all of the thread from last year. I could be wrong, but I don’t remember anyone reporting that they had big rejection waves. It sounded more like NYU was really disorganized–to the point where they look super organized this year by comparison–and sent decisions out in dribs and drabs into late May because they simply didn’t have things together.

Not much of a consolation, though.

i just hope we all find out by may 15th… if this drags out to the very end of may i might go bald
