Official NYU 2011 Transfer Thread

To everyone that wasn’t accepted: I am so, so sorry! NYU’s admission seems to be out of its mind!

I haven’t received any kind of e-mail or request for documents, but on the off chance that I may be asked, I just sent in my Mid-Term Report and called to make sure it was received.

This sucks a**, man.

I applied to Stern and have not received any word from NYU at all… anyone else???

i applied to stein back in OCTOBER for the fall 2011 and have not heard anything yet. nothing in transfer credits except a URL that leads nowhere. i honestly cant really afford to go anyways so in a sadistic way i hope i just get denied so i dont feel disappointed about having to turn down such an awesome offer

So I applied to Stern, and I got an email yesterday asking for my midterm grade report. My finals week JUST started, and I don’t think I can find ANYTHING to have the commonapp mid-term grade report filled out. So I just faxed them the upper part of the report with my address and phone and stuff, and attached a page which I printed out from my current college’s student account where all my midterm grades are shown. Do you guys think that’s enough. If grades are all they need…

So I applied to Stern for business economics. I didn’t receive an email or anything but I know my application is complete cuz I called. Also, I send in my mid year report 2 months ago to increase my chances of getting in.

To those who were rejected, I am extremely sorry. You guys probably all deserve to go to NYU. If you don’t mind me asking, did you or were you in the process of finishing prereqs when you applied and how many math classes did you take? Stern LOVES math so I am hoping it’ll help me.

Thanks and sorry again.

i feel like last years thread had an easier acceptance rate… from the rejections ive seen so far.
i also just have some intuitive feeling that NYU suddenly became A LOT more selective this year

which is great! if you get in…

@tomokoshino i think that would be great for them to see in the meantime, but maybe try having your professors fill out the actual report just in case they dont accept it

@enve520 right! I should totally do that. Thanks!

nyu admission office is totally driving me crazy…
those ppl gave totally different answers n confused me so much…
got very depressed after got a rejection from cornell
hope to hear from steinhardt soon:(
anybody apply for applied psych here?

@tomokoshino
hi im just wondering if u called them before n they told u that ur application is complete than asked u to send the midterm report?
coz i called them several times, n they said my materials r completed except some freaking high school graduation certificate(im internation student), n i havent recieved any email that asked me to send the midterm report. but see u mentioned it makes me kinda worried TT__TT
my friend who transferred to stern last yr got acceptance at April 10th…c’mon its already may5th now…ugh nyu

My son got his acceptance email today to CAS, so it’s not an all rejection day. If it makes anybody feel better his file was incomplete as of last Friday so for all of you who are worried that this will put you at a disadvantage, I don’t think that’s the case.

@aguamarine831 hey I am an international student too. But I am in a US college right now.
I received an email around last week saying that my application was incomplete, and NOTHING was received according to the online application status page. I called to ask because I thought it would be impossible for them not to have any of the materials I sent two months ago, and found out there has been a mistake in filing my documents, and that everything has been received. (I did not send a mid-term report because I thought it wasn’t required). And I checked later to find my transcripts marked as received on the online application status page. I then got an email yesterday morning saying that they would require midterm grade reports to continue to review my application. So I just faxed the page I printed out online from my student portal website showing my midterm grades. It’s not an official page, but I hope they will still review it.

wow April 10th is really early! ahhh I’m so nervous now! I want to know!

@momtomatt Can you tell us around what time did your son get the email? Do you guys think that’s it for today?

Momtomatt: what were your sons stats. And what is he majoring in? If I may ask of course.

Here’s some additional info that may help: when my son talked to an admissions officer - not a student answering the phone - he was told that the emails go out Tuesdays and Thursdays.

@LondonKim

I applied to Stern. Not rejected (YET!), but I got a midterm grade request today.
The mail was from the Associate Director at Stern, so I assume that they have started reviewing my application.

I’m hoping that the midterm grade request was because they find me a good candidate and want to just see if I’ve continued with my previous standard of work, as it seems that because NYU has so many applicants, they wouldn’t tell all of them to send in their midterm report, especially since it’s not even a required document.

He’s transferring from Boston College as a sophomore
College GPA 3.9
HS GPA 4.0
SAT superscore 2180
His college course load was very rigorous

He also got accepted to Georgetown SFS as a transfer
Waiting to hear from Columbia and Duke, but NYU is his first choice

Good luck everybody!

Great I have to wait till Tuesday. ■■■! I can’t handle this anymore! -_-

ya GiantMidget… its a good sign. if they werent interested in you, they wouldnt ask you for a midterm report… get excited i hope you really want to go to stern haha

@Reneyney - sorry forgot to say that his intended major is the IR program.
