Official NYU 2011 Transfer Thread

@tangyj
im from a suny school n my gpa is 3.5 but it shows a steady growth…but seeing those 3.9gpa got rejected just makes me feel horrible=___=
@reneyney14
yea end of the may,same as they told me this week,n they told me last week that decisions will be released this week, so WTH with NYU admissions?!

Holy mother of god, I refuse to believe that they will be releasing the decisions by the end of this month. If I have to wait that long, I’m just gonna go ahead and kill myself. Seriously, my heart drops whenever I get a stupid email blink on my blackberry!!

@Desimundha7
true, but everytime i called them,they always gave diff answers pshhhhh:'((
actually my friend who applied NYU two years ago got her package via mail first,probably there r some adjustments in recent yrs

Ahagirl1012, I wanna not believe either but it’s what they said. Bleh! And I know the feeling of the email notification. I use my iPad and every time i get an email, there’s a notification. I freak and getbexcited but it ends up being stupid expedia or delta! Svkjshfkjshvkjhdkljfvbkdfbvkdfvkjhhfjfjfnhgjfjvjdk! aHHHHHHHHHH!

I guess not acceptance/rejections came today. Anyone know of any?

@Desimundha7 – I know, this is seriously screwing up any plans I could make elsewhere because I can’t stop hoping and waiting on NYU…

@ahagirl1012 – SAME HERE! I will be in class and feel my phone buzz and see that little light and all I want to do is open it and see NYU Congrats!.. Ugh

@LondonKim

I got accepted today, but alas I’m not going due to the (lack of) financial aid.

Stats (just for informational purposes):

College GPA: 3.73 (1st semester, second should be about the same)
HS GPA (unweighted): 3.4
SAT’s: 1990 (650CR, 650W, 690M)

@ durka

What school did you get into?

@durkadurka123 –> Congrats, nonetheless. It is an accomplishment just to get in. Did you have a lot of other activities (like clubs, jobs, etc) under your belt? Also, what time did you find out?

@durka (sorry for all the qs haha)

what major?

Thanks all. Having a 32% acceptance rate I really wasn’t expecting to get in, so it was a nice surprise.

I got into College of Arts and Sciences (Political Science major.) I ran cross-country for a competitive Division III program, was sports editor of the newspaper, and was part of a leadership program. I guess I had a few EC’s (I also got 11 varsity letters in high school in x-c, nordic skiing and track), but I know my HS GPA wasn’t exactly NYU material.

Regardless, let that be a lesson to you all that if you put in a solid year of college that even your “reach” schools can be more realistic (for the record, I did not apply last year.) Good luck to everyone!

@durka: when did u get the acceptance email?

congrats that you got in! horrible that finaid for nyu sucks, but maybe someone on the eventual waitlist will get off when you decline their offer…

I REALLY HOPE I GET IN!!! WHY DOES ONLY ONE PERSON GET AN ACCEPTANCE A DAY?!

also, i am similarly struggling with the email notifications. and i have to go to work, which means no iphone for 6 HOURS!!

And when I mean when, I meant what time

blahhhhhh, what. End of the month? I hope that’s not the case. If I don’t get into NYU, I’m either going to University of British Columbia or McGill, and I’d really like to know a few weeks before June if NYU’s not taking me so I can visit UBC before the June 1st deposit deadline.

I already had to set down a deposit for McGill because they wanted to know several weeks ago :(

@caligulashorse –> Yeah, I had to put down my deposit at Rutgers because they wanted to know on May 1st. Thankfully, I can wait until June for the other school I applied to for the deposit, but I’d like to know already. This is a killer.

@durkadurka123 –> I applied to CAS for PoliSci and I have about the same stats as you. 3.79 college gpa, 3.43 hs gpa, and a bunch of clubs and things rounding everything else out. I’m sorry you’re not going, but good luck elsewhere.

@ahagirl1012 - I think my dad got it through standard mail; he just rung me to tell me (I received no email.)

@Lauren229 - Thanks…it’ll all work out. Good luck with your application, I hope good news comes your way.

Word on the street is different departments notify different. Poli-sci is via mail.

SCPS is strictly by email… At least the Paul McGhee division is. From what I know, that school releases admissions daily… essentially whenever the decision is rendered.

*differently…durka did your transfer credits show up before?
