According to <a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools; , 1032912 juniors and 786278 sophomores took the PSAT this year.

We’ve been discussing PSAT history for about 1 or 2 years. What has it been doing for the 40 some years it’s been around. Has the cutoff always gone up. Or is it just a trend, with exceptions here and there.

All I’m saying is that is it likely for illinois to go from 216 to 214. it was 214 two years ago?

The cutoff goes up and down. Our state’s scores historically have been very close year to year. For the most recent years our scores have been within the 211 - 217 range, usually going up or down no more than 3 points, usually 2. In fact, most of the scores have been 213, 214 and 215. So it is possible for the score to go from 216 to 214.

does being commended really mean anything? I’m a senior and was put on the National merit commended list… but does that have any significance at all? I’m assuming I won’t receive any scholarships.

Lucky homeschoolers, I got mine on Friday Dec. 3. Sent in the mail. Anyone who says homeschoolers are stupid… eat your heart out ![]()
jumping up and down! I got a 262. WOW I was shocked. 67 math (boo), 98/97 on the other sections. I still could pull up my math score though by SAT time. I’m def. happy with that score.
I’m in NY. I’m assuming I’ll get some kind of commendation for that score, maybe a semi-finalist. From what I’ve heard NY’s cutoff is at 218.
Good luck to you all, I hope you get yours soon so the torcher is over! (I know I was nervous… waiting… not fun…)

emily, max is 240…add together the scores, not the percentages
it may have changed this year, though, I’m not sure, since I’m a senior this year

Emily, if your three posted scores are percentiles, not scores, then you would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 195, I think…look at the report again and look for the “Selection Index” number, which must be equal to or less than 240…that’s your score.

By the way, my homeschooler hasn’t seen his score yet in PA.

OUr school has them but won’t be giving them out until next week.

Our school has them too Over30 but they always wait until the day before Christmas break to give them out. Guess they think that cuts down on kids comparing scores (as if!).

Nice Hyper2400! My birthday’s on December 12th, but I get my PSAT score on the 16th. Hopefully it’s a belated birthday present…

in writing, what question type did you get wrong? …identify sent errors, improving sent, or improving paragraphs

when you post your scores, please post your test day (W/S), state, selection index, and section breakdown (M/CR/W).

I got my scores today in Oklahoma (Wednesday test).

Selection Index: 229

CR 76 (missed 2, omitted none)
M 73 (omitted one, missed one)
WS 80 (omitted none, missed one)

Glad to see the cutoff numbers. What can kids do to improve their chances after they make the cut?

****!!!111

i hope my score is good

i don’t think you really need to do much. just get good SATs and keep good grades. only like 1,000 of the 16,000 semifinalist don’t get finalist.

cjsb, i Missed one improving sentences in Writing
