This is so frustrating! Palm’s methods don’t work for my son, he gets the “temporarily unavailable” message. His counselors told the students they’d get the results in December, but now they say they’re too busy to distribute the results, so they’re waiting until after the break. I called and asked if he could get his access code and was told no. He has a College Board account which shows his 2013 scores. At what point can he see his 2014 scores online without that access code?

@Potter16 Using Jacob’s tool, do scores tend to overestimate or underestimate? Reports from my school (wednesday test) are saying that they lost a substantial number of points on each test for very few questions missed.

@YungTahoe lol same thing got a 216 on two different practice tests from diff publishes i took before the test and …
a 197 on real test
70( 74 highest on on practice tests)
71(78 highest on prac tests)
56(68 twice)
at least i can and 99.9% will get 2500 dollars through national achievement scholarship

sorry to burst your bubble @yoyo27 but you if you mean the national merit scholarship you most likely wont get it because no state would have a cutoff of 197

@BEDAJO Jacob’s tool uses the Saturday curve, not the Wednesday one, which is probably why your scores are off. It also doesn’t include omits.

I get my official score tomorrow! I’m somewhat excited, even though I already know my score.

223 for CA??? Do I have a chance?

@nishaus definitely do

Omg ty @vmiller7723 How would I know this? Is there already the qualified scores somewhere?

What kind of people usually get into finalist standing btw? My gpa is like crap and I dont really care about the scholarship but i was wondering bout the criteria in general

@nishaus The qualifying scores will be released next year, but California’s cutoff generally ranges from 221-224. It was 222 last year, I believe; if it goes up, it’ll probably only be by a point, so you’ll make it. It’s probably going to go down anyways.

@nishaus – If you make the cutoff, your progression to finalist does include a look at your grades. So it depends on your definition of ‘crap’. Do you have any D’s? More than one C? If the answer is yes to either of those questions it might be an issue.

And there is more to Finalist status than the scholarships awarded by the National Merit people. Some schools really want NMF’s, so it could help with admission. There are a large number of schools that will give NMF’s a full-ride. And even USC, if you get admitted, will give you a 50%-tuition scholarship.
NMF status doesn’t do much if you’re aiming at the very elite schools, but if your GPA is ‘crap’, NMF status may help you when you apply to the schools you’re considering.

omg guys I got 225, and the cutoff for AZ is usually around 214! Got 80s for CR and M, screwed up Writing (-5) and got 65.

topaz: what makes you think it will go down? Really hoping for just one point…

took the wednesday test and both methods show the same number of questions wrong but jacob method shows I omitted one question too. What has me confused is that the errors that show up are questions that I did not see in the test I took. If the score is correct, will 220 be enough in Ohio for nmsf?

The most recent cutoff for Ohio was 215. If you got a 220 you should be in. Safely.

Congrats.

Thanks.

@yoyo27 dude i actually did better than i thought bc jacob’s uses the saturday curve so i used the wednesday curve and i came up with a 204!! Commended, which im happy with. check for yourself bc you probably improved too

C - 63
M - 67
W - 78
208. On the border for Louisiana. I was hoping to do better, but for never taking a practice test, it’s alright. Now it’s a waiting game.

I got my official score back today, and it’s the same as the hack method’s.
