Official Questbridge National College Match 2010-2011

So you’re thinking there’s a chance? This is remarkably stressful. Sorry about MIT. Was that your number one?

I feel like it’s really late at this point, so there must be something weird.

Well, I think it would be best to give other schools a try just because you are questioning this quite a bit. USC is a great school, but the “What if…” a year from now would suck. Also, if you have great stats along with ECs and recs, you might have a good shot at the schools you do want.

wait so binding means that I would HAVE to attend that school? I thought that I have to give them an answer in a week or something, and I can say No and apply to other schools. Wow i sound so dumb now. Dunno wht to do?

Hmm…thought so. QuestBridge: [“Binding” means that if you are admitted to a college through the College Match, you are required to attend that school.]

Don’t sweat it much… USC is really good and a 4yr scholarship is amazing.

I thought binding means that you have to attend. I think you can say no, but USC will probably be mad. They could inform other QB partner schools that you apply to in RD about you not being committed to the Match Program. Check the agreement QB made you sign.

I hope so… Seriously it is stressful…
Yeah, MIT was my first choice.
But I heard that only four people were matched to MIT this year, so it kind of relieves me
I tried to contact QB thru email and phone, but they didn’t respond both.
I’m gonna try to reach them tomorrow. I’m too tired :(

Hey. Congrats for getting into Yale.
Yale has been my dream school since…the third grade.
Do you mind telling me some of your profile stuff?
Like grades, test scores, and extra curricular activities so that I can see what Yale’s expectations are and if I have a chance?

Thanks.

the only way to get out of a binding contract is if you physically can’t afford to pay for the school in this case. Its a full ride so you can’t use that excuse so yes you will be going to USC.

so that means that I HAve to attend USC? I can’t say No to them?

yes you HAVE to attend

For those doing QB RD, how many colleges are you forwarding the app to considering the fee waivers?

izenonology, i got accepted to USC, too! =O gogogogo

Is there any way other than Email to check the match status?
I haven’t got a notification yet…
This thing is so tedious …

i honestly don’t think it’s worth it to commit to USC if you know that you are going to regret it. yes, the policies are binding, but i’m sure you can try contacting USC and or questbridge. if you’re allowed out of this match, then maybe it will allow someone whose dream it is to go to USC to get that full scholarship they really need. Do yourself and someone out there a favor & talk to USC ASAP!

I got matched to Princeton

@ izenonology, if what goaloriented said about dropping out is allowed, then maybe you should. I am aware that binding prevents you from dropping your enrollment to USC and as stated above, only granted excuse in the case of financial need, but perhaps there may be other policies? Maybe this would provide the opportunity to someone who really wanted to attend USC. Just a thought…

:D Awesomeness

Seriously, you are smart enough that USC matched you and you don’t understand the terms of QB?

Sorry, but if you are that clueless, please decline the QB match, you obviously dont know how important or rare that the opportunity that has been given.

Also, EVERY QB school will know that you reniged on another school, and won’t want you.

I am disgusted that somebody that has been given such an opportunity is now wanting to turn it down.

Wow, you might want to rethink your decisionl

YOU ranked USC, correct?

You have a moral obligation to fufill your QB contract and attend USC.

I was not matched. I ranked MIT & Princeton. Stats:

SAT 2370, SAT Subject tests 800, 800 and 800
ACT 35
GPA weighted 4.5ish/4.0 unweighted.
1/331 rank
some 60ish college credit hours - 4.0
National Science Bowl team - 13th in nation
Math, chemistry and physics Olympiad test qualifier
Lots of church involvement and leadership
Eagle Scout
Quiz bowl/Knowledge bowl
peer tutor
National Honor Society

I’m trusting RD will work out okay. We’ll just have to wait and see. It would be nice to know now about colleges but it’s all good. There are a lot of really good schools out there so we’ll just see how it pans out.

I’ll definitely submit RD with MIT and Princeton but will also take a look more closely at the other schools on the list.

Best of luck to everyone!!
