I got deferred from Questbridge College Match, but my heartiest congratulations and best of luck to those that got matched.

As far as the Matching process goes, I think everyone should be grateful for being matched. If you’re not satisfied with the school you got matched with, then please consider the other finalists whose dream was to go to that school; ranking schools is not a fun game, and all finalists are aware of binding and non-binding schools. It is such a pity to see people unsatisfied with their matches, when what matters is that the school saw potential in him/her.

I haven’t received an e-mail or phone call yet either ]: Although my mom called at 3pm PST, and whoever answered said they had just sent out the e-mails. I am so anxious!

Rejected to Penn who’s forwarding their applications and to whom? The QB site lets you forward it to all colleges, but only some accept the QB app in lieu of the Common App or school app…what’s up with that?

I’m a little concerned that someone capable enough to apply to QB doesn’t understand the definition of binding.

You choose the schools you were willing to accept a binding offer from… QB doesn’t force you into applying to any school. Everything about QB makes it clear that you go to the school you are matched to. Just like you must go to the school you are accepted to under any binding ED program-- you must withdraw any RD applications.

Seriously, as someone who has made charitable donations to QB, I’m embarassed and disappointed.

Unfortunately, I have to go RD. izenonology if you do not want to go to USC I would gladly go there in place of you if I could :)

By the way, how important are subject tests to schools that do not require them but recommend them (e.g. Northwestern, Notre Dame, USC, University of Virginia)?

Are my chances drastically lowered if I have not taken one?

I didn’t get a match but did get an email earlier today. And tonight I came home to a phone message from MIT. The email was probably the same as others received that ranked MIT. But the phone call was from an actual admissions officer encouraging me to apply ED. He was very positive and left his contact info to talk with him tomorrow. I was gone at church so missed the call but it was very nice to hear something personal and encouraging. I’m psyched!

So for those of us that didn’t get matched, it could be for a number of reasons. We have to stay positive (saying this to myself too!). Good luck!

If I got a message from questbridge informing me that one of the colleges that I listed selected me and get no reply about the other colleges, does that mean that they didnt accept me and questbridge is telling me the only one that accepted me? (I applied for UVA, MIT, and Princeton, but only got a response back that UVA accepted me)

By that do you mean that it was the first college to choose me (like before MIT and Princeton), or that it was number one on the match agreement form which it wasn’t.

So, I looked at the RD requirements and found that I need to submit the FAFSA and CSS Profile for, basically, every college I am forwarding my app to. Do I really need to submit the CSS profile?!?! THis is going to be really expensive for me.

john12: well, technically, they didn’t “reject” you, it’s just that they didn’t match w/ you. If UVA had been non-binding, then you would’ve now been able to apply to MIT & Princeton via RD.
