bailey, I can agree that I’m wrong, but that general definition of “argumentative” isn’t correct. An essay can definitely be argumentative and attempt to actively debunk another side (refutation speech???). Also, this was not persuasive either, as it didn’t attempt to get the reader to do anything to rectify the issue presented or side with their viewpoint. Read what the source you provided under general techniques for persuasive writing.

yeah but if it was argumentative, it would still be clear which side it was arguing and prevent a valid thesis statement pertaining to the argument. to me the essay felt more like a discussion of the differences between indie book stores and super book stores rather than a statement on which one was better

meant present*

I forget what I put, but from what I’m seeing here the answer is argumentative.

I asked an expert she agreed that it was in fact informative. Remember kiddos the questions are based on what is in front of us you can’t lose sight on that.

Please cite your “expert” source. Also what did people put for the answer to the question regarding a “political arena”?

It was definitely argumentative. The author proposed two sides of the argument and presented pros and cons for each side. It wasn’t informative because there was a lot of opinion based statement including quotations. I also believe the author argued against or for the quote that was mentioned in the passage. Anyway, I probably didn’t due too hot and am expecting around a 26.

no answers for the political arena question?

If I recall correctly for the political arena one, I put the answer that had something about the people protesting commercialized (don’t remember the exact wording) products.

you mean they were literally protesting outside the store?

It was not informative. She spent the time arguing against the superiority of indies, not describing them.

I hope -3 = 34 but more than likely it’ll be around a 31 :/

We are still arguing the argumentative vs. informative thing? Read the first couple of pages for reasons why its argumentative, and the majority sides with argumentative. Also I’d kill for a -3 = 34 curve. If we get that I’ll get a 34 composite for sure… or at least a 33

More than likely -3 will = 32/33 (I don’t believe it’ll be worse than 32 for -3 though)

I think I got 7-10 wrong. What range is that? 25-29?

sillyup…please stop predicting curves; your assumptions are exaggerations.

jman5558, I don’t remember the specifics, but I know I didn’t pick anything about literal protests like boycotts and stuff. All I remember is that the answer contained something about protesting mainstream bookstores, but not in the physical way.

sillyup20 I don’t think you’ve ever seen a real ACT curve before…

So let me ask is sillyups prediction harsh or too generous lol

Sillyup, your curves are practically tyrannical. Chill. I would estimate -3=34
