Official Spring 2014 Cornell Transfers Thread

MSSB555: It’s alright! Thank you for the response!

My essays talked about my love of serving, while working in the hospital, others- whether that be patients or co-workers. I highlighted my career goals and the concentration and specialization at SHA that coincide with exactly what I want to pursue. I also talked about how my real estate internship experience has influenced me to consider the real estate minor at SHA. Overall, I wrote about how SHA has such a wide breadth and depth of possibilities after graduation, and how no other school can offer such opportunity.

Yes- I’m applying for Spring 2014! Thank you!!

At this point, I am just so anxiously waiting for that email. But try to be very patient. Hows everyone doing?

^ the first time i check my mail in the morning is like Christmas morning as a kid when you know there are presents under the tree. Then you realize there are no presents under the tree, and oh wait there is no tree, and oh wait it isn’t Christmas yet at all.
Rinse & Repeat throughout the day.

I’ve been following these posts for a while and now feel the need to join the talk! I also applied to ILR for Spring 2014.

I discovered I could log into housing Wednesday, which I wasn’t able to do previously. Apparently, in last year’s thread, some people who could log into housing received their decision a few days later. Has this happened to anyone yet?

^I’ve definitely heard that in past threads too. Although I don’t believe it is 100% accurate, it definitely would excite me.
as for this thread I think trasnferg was able to log into housing right before s/he was accepted.

Everyone, is it true that you can be accepted without your Midterm Report in a situation similar to Transfersg’s? May you please respond to this post if applicable, Transfersg? I would really appreciate your take on the subject, alongside everyone else’s!

Also, if anyone knows the housing link, may you please post it? Thank you!

ILRieS14, would it be okay for you to share your academic credentials with us? I’m pretty sure that everyone would appreciate it, on my behalf.

hi, i saw this page when looking for information on when to expect a response and figured i would give you guys an update. i received an acceptance letter from the college of human ecology for policy analysis yesterday (Friday, 11/8) during the day! oddly, it was sent to my home address as a mailed letter, so my mom called me and read the letter to me. i didn’t receive it at my college address (or it came to my house first.) i was expecting any news to come electronically, but i haven’t gotten an email and my app self service still looks the same. also, i still can’t log in to housing so don’t read into that by any means. also, as for the midterm report- mine had not been received by the admissions team, and they emailed me on Tuesday and asked me to just send them in by email. so i emailed them back and didn’t know whether that was “official” enough so i offered to scan by midterm report, and she emailed me back within an hour saying that was good enough. so, just thought i would let you guys know since that was not at all the way i was expecting this process to work! good luck to all of you

Great job, Coltransfer! I’m very proud of you! Would it be alright for you to enlighten me (us) about your academic credentials when you applied and, and what year and semester you are currently completing in college? Also, if alright with you, may you please mention your college and the grades you have received for your Midterm Report? I feel like I’m interrogating you, academically of course! Thanks for everything and please forgive me if I have offended or irritated you in any way. Once again, congratulations!

Hey chris sorry yes, should have included that
I’m a first semester sophomore at Wake Forest in NC. I went to a public high school and finished with a 4.3 overall (with lots of honors and ap’s) and I was pretty involved. I got a 2300 overall on the SAT’s (720 reading, 780 math, 800 writing). At wake, I’m involved in a sorority and some clubs, but certainly not as involved as I was in high school/as I should be. I have a 3.9 here and my midterm grades were: chem (A), chem lab (A-), sociology (A), psychology (A), public policy (A), and health (A). umm what else… Wake is a liberal arts school with similar class requirements, so I was pretty much on track with the required/recommended classes, but I did switch some stuff around this semester to cover the rest of the stuff on the list that I didn’t have filled (psych, another lab science, etc.)… I had never applied to Cornell before nor do I have any familial connections there. I feel like my essay did a decent job of communicating my reasons for transferring, which is honestly just that I really want a policy analysis program.

Thanks, Coltransfer! I really appreciate that.

Congratulations Coltransfer!

Chris,

I’m a first semester sophomore at Williams College in MA. I have a 3.41 GPA, and that’s based just off of first semester grades (nothing less than a B), and a high school GPA of 4.2. I worked a lot in high school and during my breaks at Williams with HR specialists at two businesses in my area, which sparked my interest in HR (and OB), and thus ILR. At Williams I’m a member a couple student organizations: mentoring first-generation college students, student investment committee, and relay for life…but I think that Cornell (and ILR especially) looks more at a student’s ability to handle the workload, as well as his/her interest and ability to connect with the program. I thought my essays were pretty strong, and Cornell’s the only school I’m applying to as a transfer so I was able to research the school, visit, talk with students, and other stuff, before writing my essays.

Thanks, ILRieS14! Good luck!

Thank you so much for the information Coltransfer! After I saw your post, I had my dad check the mail at my home address as well. I got my acceptance letter to Human Ecology for the Human Development major! It came some time today. My home address is in California, so it likely took a little longer. It’s pretty odd it came to my home address instead of through email or to my college though. Also, for those wondering, I can log into the Housing portal now, but I was not able to as of yesterday.

Congrats Hello! So Human Ecology it looks like as of now, is mailing their acceptances.

Congratulations, hello! Would it be okay if you posted your academic credentials? Wow, I feel like this is my designated job now! It seems as though that the Human Ecology wave has officially begun. I can’t wait for the other acceptances to be posted!

Thanks!
3.65 from Columbia
My midterm report grades were significantly lower than my average, but many of my professors commented that it wasn’t a significant representation since there were only a few assignments at the time
4.3 in high school (it definitely declined my second semester senior year though haha)
32 ACT (from high school)

Oh and I’m a sophomore right now. Credits likely somewhere in the 50s, so an incoming second semester sophomore.

Thanks, hello! Great job on your success!
