Official Spring 2014 Cornell Transfers Thread

Thanks! Best of luck to you Chris!

Best of luck to you also, hello!

Hi guys,

Congratulations everyone! I was accepted today as well. I don’t think I mentioned that I switched my application at the last minute to HumEc-Policy Analysis and Management major. Such a better place for me. But yeah, got in to the College of Human Ecology. Also, the housing portal still shows the usual message. Best of luck to everyone still waiting!

Congratulations Jpapas!!!

Great job, JPAPAS! I’m also very proud of you! Everyone, stay away from the bridges at Cornell! Trust me, you won’t be sorry you did!

Which schools/colleges have people already heard from? ILR, Human Ecology, and CALS?

No decisions for ILR yet, Playerpiano. Which school did you apply to? Perhaps, I can help you.

Anyone heard anything from CALS? I applied to the AEM program, site says all my documents have been received but no word on decision yet

For the ones already accepted, may I ask if your financial aid packages are good enough to attend Cornell, and the amount for your school, if not too much to ask? Of course, this applies to the ones that did apply for financial aid. Thanks!

You should call Cornell first thing tomorrow, daddyk64.

Will do Chris and I’ll post what I find. Can someone also help me understand “rolling decisions”? Is it basically a first in first out kinda system or does it only mean that they release them as they become available

The quicker you submit all of your documents to them, then the quicker they can make a decision for you and give it to you. However, there is no specific time frame. This is what rolling basis means.

Also, keep in mind that there are probably hundreds (most-likely only for Spring terms) or thousands (definitely for Fall terms) that have applied. Therefore, it will take admissions some time to process your materials and get back to you as soon as possible.

Probably doesn’t help that I submitted my app on the deadline then lol but thanks for the help!

It’s fine. I know people that have submitted their apps three days after the deadline and still were accepted.

Chris I applied to CAS (biological sciences major) so I know they must be flooded with applications, especially because of the glitch with the common app. Rolling admissions is just terrifying because I could hear back any day for the next month

Yeah, I understand. Would you mind telling me your stats? Also, what year and semester did you apply as? Thanks!

Bio Sci is very popular for both freshman and transfers at CAS. Therefore, it may take a while. Don’t worry, I’ll bare it with you.

Applying from: Middlebury College
To: Arts and Sciences, Biological Sciences major as a second semester sophomore
GPA: 3.88. Credits work differently here so I have no idea how many I have
HS GPA: ~4.0
SAT: 2290. ACT: 35. I took 6 APs (all 5s except for one 4), 3 SAT IIs (two 800s and one 720)
EC’s: A variety of ECs
I only asked for one recommendation letter - didn’t even think about asking for more.
Both essays I wrote were directly about Cornell since it’s the only school I applied to.
Also I got accepted to Arts and Sciences when I applied in high school and one of my parents works for Cornell

Hey daddyk64, I also applied to CALS for the AEM program as well. I submitted the Common Application with the Writing Supplement back in the middle of September, but I didn’t get my mid-term grades in till the first couple of days of October. I think I have seen one other person on here get accepted to CALS but it was for a different major if I remember correctly. That individual was sent an email. Looks like everyone else is getting written acceptances from Human Ecology.
