Official Stanford SCEA 2016 Applicants' Discussion Thread

Do you guys really think they’ll be done by the 9th? That’s so soon… haha.

^ I don’t think the worst part will be the rejection email. It’ll be the friends bugging you about whether or not you got admitted.

Yea, I’m applying to CMU and Johns Hopkins.

It’s funny to say this, but Stanford’s rejection letter isn’t all that bad. It let’s you down gently.

LOL. I can’t help but wonder if the admissions officers have read my application yet…and which “pile” it’s in! But I’ll just drive myself crazy thinking about it. I wonder how they narrow down their applicants?

Yeah, the 9th is early…but I guess they have a knack for finishing them early?

Just a few days ago, when my counselor and I called in, Stanford admission officers had not even started reading apps.

…wow. :O

Gosh reading this thread makes me feel so nervous… the date is slowly creeping up on us.

Quick question, what makes one considered a legacy? Is it only if their parents have attended the school? What if it was say a sibling?

Oh wow. That kind of terrifies me to be honest.

But hopefully, things turn out well nevertheless for at least some of us here.

I’m not even superstitious, but I keep taking things as “signs” and I have to wear my “lucky socks” to check my email!

I’m watching the game. Go Cardinal!

Hey guys, where does it say that you don’t have to send in your transcripts for UCs? Can someone link me.

According to here, it wants a transcript.
[University of California - Apply online](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/how-to-apply/apply-online/index.html)

I’m pretty sure siblings count for legacy too

Anyone else get mad annoyed when their friends say “oh you’ll definitely get in,” completely ignoring the single digit admit rate among the smartest kids in the country.

I had an alumni interview on the weekend of November 12th and 13th. She was very nice, a biology teacher at a high school. She drove about an hour to interview, which I thought was nice!

Also, have any of you who had an optional letter of rec. sent in on your behalf received any confirmation of their receipt? The mayor of my city sent in a letter, and a letter signed by Richard Shaw was sent back to him. When I asked earlier this month, they told me over the phone that they do not confirm the receipt of the optional letters. Curious if this happened to anyone else…

@JacobStudent That means you should have a transcript with you when you fill in the application to ensure that your inputted information is correct.

[University of California - After you apply](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/how-to-apply/after-you-apply/index.html) If you look there, the step for “Submit transcripts” is after you have been accepted.

And just in case you’re not convinced. P: http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/counselors/freshman/helping/index.html</a> “Students should refer to transcripts to complete the academic history section of the application. Please tell them not to work from memory. It’s very important that all the information requested be included and is accurate. The information on the self-report will be verified when we receive admitted students’ official transcripts.”

The College and Career Center at my school has also repeatedly said that UC’s do not require a transcript, and seeing as I go to a California high school, it should be correct. There are a lot of College Confidential threads saying the same thing as well.

Err, I tried filling it out just now, but it seems like it only accepts whole numbers for Unweighted GPA for some reason? o-o

@juiceboxenjoyer, yesssss sooo much. I know exactly what you mean

What’s the sample size on those EA survey results?

Is this a good safety?

NerdyJock – you rock. Although I’m very sorry you went through that. :-(

Thousand – legacy helps at least that much, according to everyone I’ve talked to. First gen college helps that much, too. Siblings count – my pal’s brother went there, and that gives her a big advantage.

I’ve always assumed I will get rejected, that I just bought a lottery ticket on a lark. I think about the positives of the other schools.

We just got Big Bang Theory from Netflix and will start it tonite! A visit to Caltech convinced me not to apply (even though, NerdyJock, one of their coaches called me).

Who thinks Luck is going to win the Heisman? That Alabama guy had over 200 yards yesterday!

PS A teammate of mine won the HS Heisman last year.

I don’t know about all schools, but for Stanford, you’re a legacy only if a parent got a degree there :/

well, that’s what they “say” anyway.
