Official Stanford SCEA 2016 Applicants' Discussion Thread

The Alabama guy has a name, Trent Richardson. And, boy, he is damn good.

I don’t think Luck will win the Heisman, because he hasn’t played as well as he did last year.

I think the Heisman will go to Trent Richardson or Robert Griffin III, the sensational quarterback from Baylor.

However, if I had to pick one, I’d choose RGIII.

I know discussion of interviews was a while back, but, in case you are still wondering, I found this on the stanford website:

“For the 2011–12 admission cycle the Office of Undergraduate Admission will offer an optional alumni interview to applicants in Atlanta, Denver, New York City, Philadelphia, Raleigh-/Durham, Washington DC, the states of Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oregon and Virginia, and much of the UK including London. New interview areas will be added worldwide, gradually over the next several years.”

@Stanfordgirl12, sucks for me. Now, I hate Florida.

^I didn’t get one either, but you sound like you don’t need any extra help ;)

Are we allowed to travel to one of the cities where interviews are offered?

P.S. for a school of Stanford’s caliber, one needs all the help one can get.

^no, i wish…

“Interviews will be offered only to applicants who attend high school in selected zip codes within these areas. You may not travel to an interview area to have an interview.”

Oh, okay. Well, that’s why interviews don’t hold much weight in the admissions process. Because, that would be unfair to students who could not partake in the process, because of their geographic location.

It seems pathetic, because they offer interviews in numerous countries, but they can’t even expand their interview locations across the U.S.

Alumni interviews can only raise red flags, but can’t boost admission chances (much).

The interview program is only “official” as of this year, so I assume they’ll keep adding markets year after year. I had one, because the school I go to is in an area where they offer interviews, which is good because my home state (Idaho) is not. It was just a conversation and it went well I thought. I was glad to get it over with and to get some practice for other interviews I might have.

@Rush10, what have they been doing for the past couple of weeks if they have not started to review applications? I think they might have been pulling your leg.

Compiling applications.

^ yup that’s what they said when i called. they also said they started reading essays and activities lists, but did not look at applications as a whole… idk how it works

Maybe they give them preliminary ratings on just those factors.

How many days ago did you guys call?

About a week or so ago.

What did you ask the admissions?

I sent my SAT score report, but not my ACT, so my counselor called to see what I should do. They let me fax in an unofficial score report.

Oh! I’m in the same position as you are.
I sent Stanford my SAT when I applied in November, but could only send in my October scores on the 17th November.

I’m HOPING stanford didn’t go through my app before the 17th since my ACT is so much better than my SAT :/.

Hmahhh
Come on Stanford

There’s no way they can go through 6000 apps in 2 weeks
