Official Stanford SCEA 2016 Applicants' Discussion Thread

That’s exactly what I’m saying, @jdlace.

lol yes.

Man this thread has grown. I have nothing else to currently contribute to the conversation. I’m so glad I’m done with other apps since I have 0 motivation to do any work and it’s not even december yet…

@squidgetx youre so lucky. i just finished my USC app but i still have to write essays for johns hopkins and columbia

I finished my stuff for Michigan, RPI, WashU, Cornell, CMU, and Hopkins. Working on Rice and still gotta do Penn

I need to finish my essays for UChicago, Emory, and FSU (safety).

I am so damn lazy. LOL.

I have six essays to write and I’m pretty sure that will only happen over Christmas break. I’m trying my hardest not to just recycle my Stanford essays for everything else, though they were my best work. What’s the weirdest essay topic you’ve got?

I need to finish these essay topics, before Stanford releases decisions. Otherwise, I might be too depressed to work on them.

i think im gonna wait until after im rejected before i do the rest of my schools cuz if i get in then i wont waste money applying to more places.

@newtocollege, my wierdest one was actually the roommate one

I have quite a few more supplements to fill out that i just don’t have the motivation to do. I feel like i will do most of my essays for the most part after i hear back from Stanford with their decision… If i got in, i would scrap my other essays anyways because then it’d be a waste of money applying as jdlace said.

I am definitely not waiting until Dec. 15th to scramble and try to get all of my applications done. So far I’ve done Stanford and UCs, my Harvard optional essay is done, UPenn is on the way, and I’m going to start Brown next.

Slowly losing motivation. Agh…Senioritis…

Me too…

Yeah, same here. ): I finished all of my target and safety schools and just need to finish the applications for my reach schools. I’m tempted to wait until Stanford decisions come out to work on them, but I’m not sure if I’d have any motivation if I got rejected (the likely outcome).

I’m just going to try writing the essays and wait until decisions to decide whether to submit them or not. Seems like a good way to go.

As much as I want to go to Stanford, there is a very good chance I’m getting rejected. So, might as well work on my other apps.

does anyone know when we will find out the exact date the admissions descisions will be released?

Sometime before December 15th. They announced them early last year, and emailed all applicants a few days before about the exact date of the announcement.

They’ve sent them early, on Fridays for the past two years, I think.
Dec. 10 and Dec. 11.
If that happens again this year, it’ll be the 9th…

So…18 days or 12. I can’t believe we’re under 20 days. Time has flown since Oct. 15.

yea i just looked it up. it was on the 12th the year before that too. theyve been releasing them on the friday before the 15th but each time they say its because they happened to finish early and not that its a planned thing. if were gonna find out on the 9th we wont know until that morning at 8:30 pst when they will announce that descisions will be emailed that afternoon around 3:00 pst

This is what the website said last year on the morning of the 10th:

Restrictive Early Action applicants will be sent their admission decisions beginning at 3pm today. Decisions will be sent via email beginning at 3pm (Pacific Time), several days ahead of schedule. The admission committee finalized its selection process earlier than anticipated and in an effort to quell anxiety among applicants, parents, counselors, and alumni, Dean Shaw made the executive decision to release decisions today, December 10. Please understand that while we will begin to send decisions at 3pm (Pacific Time), it may take some time before your decision reaches you. Decision emails will not reach every applicant immediately at 3pm. It may take several hours before decisions are received. If we encounter any technical glitches or your internet service provider blocks our email, delivery may be interrupted. As a result, we respectfully ask that you do not call or write to the Office of Undergraduate Admission to request your admission decision. We will not begin releasing decisions over the phone until Wednesday of next week.

but the 9th is almost a whole week early so it might be this year that we have to wait untill the 15th
