Official Stanford SCEA 2016 Applicants' Discussion Thread

i heard the decision email is anti-climatic, as in you’ll know if you’ve been accepted or not by the subject title.

How are the subject lines different?

I heard from previous applicants that the title merely said “Your Admission Decision” and it actually was dependent on the body of the letter.

The notification will probably come shortly after 8:30 AM EST on the Stanford website. I hope it’s Friday :)

huh. well, we’ll find out this* friday!

@reenysinghasong YES! Right before I open the email, ill listen to My Way by sinatra.

@stnaofrdcs. I don’t know, wholeheartedly completing the application is an accomplishment. It takes thought, time, patience, effort, etc

If it doesn’t come this Friday, then I really don’t know how I’ll make it to the 15th.

Oh, so, my GC responded to my earlier email and said he had NOT received an email from Stanford asking for first quarter grades. So, they either have all of the info they need from me, or I’m in the reject pile.

Is this a good sign that he has not received an email from Stanford?

@@Stanfordcs: It is neither a good sign or a bad sign.

@Everyone else: if it is the 9th (and I’m sure I’ll repeat myself later in the week: Good luck to everyone. You all seem like articulate, nearly sane, smart people. Except for Stanfordcs, who will probably get in and we’ll all remember how INSANE he was.

Homework now.

If I get in, I’m going skydiving. 30,000 feet.

@Newtocollege Haha well put. That basically sums up all 1500 posts in one sentence

@StanfordCS

Anyone could apply to Stanford but I don’t think a lot of people could find the motivation to do the supplement lol

It wasn’t that bad. Just 3 short essays and a couple short responses.

Compared to other supplements, Stanford’s was definitely one of the more time consuming ones, though. I probably stared at it for a solid week before actually making any progress haha

Stanford is definitely one of the longer ones. I don’t think anyone would apply if they didn’t think they had a shot. Simply applying means that you’re a strong applicant, or that you have a huge ego.

Stanford’s supplement took me like two weeks, I almost didn’t apply because I’d probably get rejected. Did anyone else do the UC app? That thing took FOREVER.

@tsukiyami

yeah I started the UC app about a week before it was due. Poor planning on my part. My essays were ****ty to be honest - unfortunately I wasn’t taking it very seriously. I’m sure I’ll come to regret that in the spring when I have a rejection letter from Cal AND Stanford.

Hopefully I’ll put a bit more effort into the other apps that are due in less than a month…(HOLY **** I ONLY HAVE A MONTH TO FINISH THOSE APPS)

@UnsureOnLife are you an out-of-state student for Cal?

My GC didn’t receive any emails or calls from Stanford either.

I have been away from these boards for a few days… How do you guys know the admissions committee is in the final meeting stage?

@BruinGator: We have conflicting reports. One poster said he/she called and was told that the decision process has been completed. Another claimed that a regional admissions officer contacted his/her counselor asking for mid-term grades, in order to prepare for a committee meeting that would start tomorrow. If the former is true, we’ll very likely get our decisions Friday. If the latter is true, it’s probably going to be sometime next week.
