For my school, we have a huuuuge number of “strong” applicants and then like maybe the top 20-30ish really stellar, amazing people. In the past however, very few have gotten into Ivies/MIT/Stanford etc even though the vast majority of those applicants thought they were Ivy-bound (and many were HIGHLY qualified). It’s so weird, it happens nearly every year. And we’ve already had a considerable number of top school admits this year so I’m wondering if the rest of us are just screwed -___-

statlanta: That is basically the golden question which is impossible to answer because it differs for every applicant, and what adcoms are looking for to “round out” the class as a whole. Our fate really isn’t in our hands at all.

my friend’s school has sent 75% of its students to stanford. he’s homeschooled

I was the only one to apply Stanford SCEA at my school, there’s 2 of my friends going for RD.

I should also mention that the best student ever at my school got into Cal Berkeley, no Ivy for my school. Bet you guys didn’t expect that did you? haha

Bloodshake by Peace is just really good right now.

same at my school. I think only one person besides myself is applying to Stanford RD. Actually I think my whole school is hoping I will get in because no one else at my school is very qualified.

Oh and my school has about 500 seniors

Hey guys! I’ve been lurking around this discussion for a while, and finally decided to join in…mostly because I’m slowly losing my sanity waiting for these results and I need an outlet to talk about this stuff. XD
I’m the only one at my school who applied REA…one of my friends is applying RD and he’s a boy genius (like Jimmy Neutron xD). My school is so small compared to most of yours…less than 350 students in the entire high school and 65 in my senior class. XD no one has ever been accepted to Stanford from my school so I am hoping to be the first. Small private Christian school for the win!!

Welcome! Then I assume you know about our indie playlist? Haha, yes I am plugging that playlist right now @Sean.

@Kurisutenx My school is exactly that, ~65 seniors and ~350 total students. Except its a small arts school xD

I haven’t yet, actually…I’ve just mostly skimmed over the conversation, enjoying the discussion. I guess one could also say I’m not very familiar with indie music (I listen to K-pop, mostly, and NOT just Gangnam Style >>). Skeptical is a good term, I suppose. Though from what I have read, the playlist is quite a hit, so inevitably curiosity will get the better of me and I’ll have a listen ^^"
May I just say, you guys are all so entertaining! In an intelligent, quirky sort of way. And that’s awesome.

I don’t want to be cruel but my school is really dumb. I wish I had more difficult classes and more available APs but no one in my school would be able to handle it. I just hope stanford understands my circustances

So… anyone into Coldplay? ;)

Cha-yess!!!

Coldplay is the best. Favorite song? Mine is probably viva la vida.

Chris Martin is literally a god to me. I own almost every single Coldplay song lolol. Coldplay, along with Bon Iver, was the beginning of my interest in music.

ooohh so many favorite songs! Top ones are probably Yellow, Lost, A Rush of Blood to the Head, Strawberry Swing, and The Scientist.

The Scientist ftw!

Embarrassing fact about me: On my ipod, I have the studio version, a live version, and a live acoustic version of The Scientist. Not sure if I should feel shame.

Favorites = don’t panic, the scientist, yellow :)

@Holocene there is ^no shame in coldplay. Only respect. Their songs so amazing and meaningful unlike most pop songs out these days.

Good. I <3 them so much.
