Official Stanford SCEA 2017 Applicants' Discussion Thread

Today has been a far more productive night for me than yesterday. I think everyone’s finally accepted that Friday is the day!

been lurking this thread for a while…decided to join in, I applied early as well! Dying to hear back…but I have been seriously enjoying your playlist, @norwhale !
My brother keeps trying to get me into this music so I’ve heard most of it before but its an awesome playlist!

Coldplay fan forever :stuck_out_tongue:
My favorite is Viva la vida too, but the scientist, yellow, swallowed by the sea, they’re all amazing haha
@emtl95 where do you go to school in San Jose? I’m from there too (my friends go to CHS)

I’ve been following this thread and couldn’t help myself when I saw your discussion on Coldplay.

Coldplay’s Viva la Vida and Taylor Swift’s Love Story by Piano Guys:

Paradise is the best, Lost is good, lovers in japan, pour me

Weeeeeeeeee
happy 12/12/12 everyone :DD

Oh gosh, don’t get my hopes up

Take a look lads, these are the lazy bums that have decided our fates:

You never know. They may have finished already, but they still might be making decisions.

Oh well, for me, the best thing to happen would be them releasing decisions today and me crying over Thurs~weekend.

Do you guys have a prediction for when the results would be out? Stanford isn’t giving us a set date…When is it… Any ideas?

I believe that the most likely date right now is this Friday.

Sent from my Nexus 7 using CC

Well, here’s to another day on the emotional roller coaster known as waiting…I can’t even read this discussion at school since the site is blocked on my school’s wifi! Stress reliever, gone! Poof!
Ironically, the discussion talking about what I’m so stressed about makes me feel better about waiting for these results…perhaps since it’s a reminder that I’m not the only one suffering out there.
A 12/12/12 results day would be interesting, but as many have said we are probably trolling ourselves and they will be released Friday…

Some people think 12/12/12 is a unique day that only happens once in a hundred years, but please keep in mind that 12/15/2012 only happens once during the entire history of the universe, I.e., everyday is special or no day is special. My god tells me Friday is special for people reading this thread.

Unique and special are not synonymous. By definition, every measured day is unique, in that we assign a different value on the calendar to it. Nevertheless, some days are numerically more interesting than others. Today, 12/12/12 is numerically special. A lot of dates (maybe 12/15) may have special properties, however today is very simple. Stanford might be just the school to utilize this opportunity to release acceptances.

if y’all are all going to stanford, I thought you would have better lives than to sit on college confidential all day

Anyone else wondering why Stanford doesn’t give a set date?
It can’t be that hard to give a concrete date; they probably know roughly how long the decision making process will take once they receive all the applications…

Edit: I also heard that Stanford got a new Admission Dean this year. Maybe she is doing things a little differently this year?

@Ari sorry, I’ll take a page from your book and go insult people on forums instead

I’m certain the results will be released at least by Friday. Thus, 12/15 will be special for only the following groups of people:

(1) successful overseas applicants for whom our Friday evening is their Saturday morning,

(2) the few admits who are blessedly ignorant of all this and won’t think to check their e-mail until the official release date,

(3) those, who after a short period of grieving, are smart enough to recognize that the Stanford AdCom cannot define their worth and are inspired to spend Saturday finishing their application to the college from which their incredibly bright futures will be eventually launched.

By the way, it’s a surprise to me that, even with the increase in REA applicants, Stanford hasn’t released by now. According to this Daily article, they increased the number of part time readers this year by over 35%.

good luck everyone!
