@stressed: I hope it’s as you say and the competition isn’t as high, arghhhh. Just hope they included us in that competitive list!

I’m thinking it COULD be the latter; after all, a fit isn’t necessarily just a 2400 and a 4.0. And 25 isn’t that many; it’s only about 3% of the original 750.

Dang, now I’m really scared :/

I am aware that a fit is not just a 2400 and a 4.0 gpa. However, from the 6100 applicants what are the chances that this year they couldnt fill the 750 slots. Last year they accepted 755 students from a smaller pool. What are the chances that this year applicants are worse? I am thinking they raised the bar.

Why would they say that they accepted 750 to begin with then? Was that just the go-to number they have for acceptances? Like a norm? Or was that number just last years?
SO MANY QUESTIONS AND ANXIETY IS STILL JUST AS HIGH!

I’m getting more paranoid the longer this wait ensues…every time my phone vibrates, I freak out a little thinking it could possibly be THE email.

Observe that the cutoff fell in EVERY state bar Louisiana, where it remained constant. Furthermore, natural variation in applicant pool combined with this could easily make a 25 person difference.

That’s true, but I found out from personal and general observance that PSAT doesn’t truly correlate to SAT score. In fact, most of the people I know got higher SAT scores.

That being said, this class is still likely to be weaker.

I got a much higher SAT score (207->2340, no tutor), so I don’t know how much that correlates. Maybe the pool did get weaker… wouldn’t that be nice? I hope they didn’t raise the bar though. Oh god I can’t handle this. WHY ACCEPT FEWER OF US?

They may have accepted fewer but deferred more.
Hard to tell, but no reason to worry - can’t do anything anyway.

I can feel a mini-heart attack coming on…

They probably deferred more students because they had a record breaking pool of applicants and are therefore expecting an insane amount of students RD. In this way they can keep more spots open for possible outstanding students in the probably record breaking rd round. There are more applicants but the number of slots hasn’t changed.

Gosh, just opened my email I saw “admissions” and my heart leapt. Frickin email from USC :(

Happened to me today with USD^ hahah

In my class of 123 7 kids got into Penn ED today…

7 kids for one school is SO much. Wow.

Can’t get Schrodinger’s cat out of my mind

Thought I’d offer a distraction. I’ve been checking the weather at Stanford for the past week or two and it seems to be raining every other day. What’s up with that? Any of you from the Bay Area wanna let us know how the weather really is there these days?

Listening to “our” playlist and playing Zoo Tycoon… I’m on winter break!! Woohoo!!

@anar - LOL it’s been FREEZING (for California, that means 45-50) here and raining about every other day for the past two weeks or so. Pretty typical December/Jan/Feb. No snow, some rain, decently cold. Still, that makes the foothills around Stanford so lush and green and beautiful
I rode my horse around there today… so gorgeous this time of year.

Music cures everything :)
