Whatever you guys say about PSAT not correlating to SAT is certainly untrue. They DEFINITELY correlate. Which SAT may not necessarily equal 10*PSAT in all or even most cases, a higher score on the PSAT is more likely to also have a higher score on the SAT… I mean come on. Haha.

And Aery, why? Was my analogy really that good =P

I live about 20 minutes away from Stanford, it has been pretty rainy (at least overnight) around here these past few days. Usually it clears up by 10 or so in the morning, but it stays windy/chilly for the rest of the day.
Ah well, 'tis a good excuse to stay indoors and sip tea :)

lolllll were you under the impression that it doesn’t rain in norcal? It rains plenty in the winter. That said, we did have a “big” (by our terms heh) storm come through these last few weeks. It rains in winter, though…this isn’t southern california.

@stressedasian. I dunno. It just seems relatable to my mindset right now. gee whiz.

@coffeeandtea, for some reason (though it’s not a large leap) the 12.3% shifting to %11.8 really freaks me out. I know that every year gets slightly more selective than the next, but still. It’s a little jarring to see the actual numbers.

So I’ve been following this post since about the 500th post and have just been letting you guys discuss every little thing and it has been very entertaining, in a good way, so thank you!

I’ve been stressing out way too much, but I have since calmed down. The girl I’ve been dating for a while now just came over with a Disney’s Tangled sticker/coloring book (awesome movie, btw) and told me that every time I start freaking out about Early Admissions, I have to take a sticker and put it where ever I am (currently two on my computer). If I realize that in the end everything is going to be ok no matter what happens, I have to color in one of pages (my current project). So now every time I look at my computer, I have a reminder that my life will, in fact, NOT end, plus the stickers are cute.

Just some food for thought. Good luck to you all!

They really should release tomorrow, but now that the date is so close they’ll just wait and release on the date they put in the legacy letters.

Unless their hearts open with unbearable uncompassion?

Would be nice, cause if I get rejected it would be good to give teachers a heads up about letters of recommendation before the weekend.

I guess I just have to get in then. Cool with me.

Also, their original post on the FAQ page said APPROXIMATELY 750. 725 is in the initial range. I doubt they initially admitted 750 and then cut out 25. They probably guessed that they would admit around 750 and eventually ended up with 725.

Yeh of course, and the 25 students is a pretty minor variation from their estimate anyway. About in the range of 3% difference, eh? Almost insignificant, yet just enough to get some attention. It’ll be interesting to see if there is a higher deferred number or percent.

Maybe they’ve been taking a vacation this whole time and we’ll all be deferred with a nice message “We’ll get to ya l8r. Was busy in the South of France. Have a nice winter.”

On the contrary, I think they DO mind deferring people. They’ve always made an effort to stand out as a school that doesn’t rely excessively on deferrals. It’s one of the reasons I chose to apply early to Stanford.

I’d definitely agree that now is a poor time to start a relationship unless you know you’re going to the same cc/college/university. It’s just that some people have been in committed relationships for months, possibly years, then all of a sudden it kinda has to end. I know some people for whom a long-distance college relationship worked but that was 40 years ago.

btw, i believe i remember reading that Stanford likes to post admission statuses as soon as they have decided to “quell the apprehension”. This is the first true indication we have had that they have finished their decisions. I am throwing out tomorrow as a strong possibility…
