@InHindsight, you’re too kind. May we all get in…

Agreed. The Bible scares the hell out of me.

I laughed for a really long time at this:

quote

i don’t where this thread is going…

I’m agnostic, but I’d really rather not discuss religion on an open forum, even though I respect all of you and your views(: Tensions too high.

Trying to distract myself, by learning Revolutionary Etude. I have discovered this is not a very good distraction, as every 20 minutes I get discouraged and come back here.

Should we rename this thread? Methinks we are off topic.

Naaaaaah~ we’ve been offtopic a lot, it’s not bad(: and this religion discussion started out fine too, but lets redirect(:

yeah i agree, the debate between science versus religion will forever go on.
In a nutshell, it’s basically
Religion : It’s in the Bible/Koran/Religious Text, or because God(Gods) said so.
Science : It’s proven through experimentation.

(I apologize if this offends any people, just my very generalized personal interpretation of the debate between religion and science)

Being an atheist myself, I completely disagree with religion and the way that it affects people, but I am tolerant of most religious people until they begin to attack my beliefs. Unless they do so, I have learned that it is not worth the frustration of debating something that will just lead to hostility and bitter ends.

I second the motion to return to going insane and frantically refreshing the admissions page 50 times per minute :)

On another note, anyone a fan of Bill Nye or Neil deGrasse Tyson? xD

Love both of them. My senior quote is a Niel deGrasse Tyson quote.

Neil deGrasse Tyson is a champ.

@TurknJD I’m very much like you, except I haven’t learned that debate will lead to bitter ends and hostility, so I continue to do so.

Do you guys watch big bang theory?

@Holocene I win for senior quotes. For any basketball fans out there. Mine was: "How can I make my teammates better by practicin’ " - Allen Iverson

The problem with what you’re saying Rainbow, is that you don’t realize what the Bible is. It’s a story of fall and redemption, consequences and forgiveness. The laws set in place in the Old Testament were a result of Adam & Eve directly disobeying God’s commands. It was their fault, not God’s. God did create a perfect world, it was us humans who screwed it up. After Jesus is crucified, everything changes. We can live in tolerance because we are all forgiven. I hate religion and how it is used to control as well, but don’t misunderstand the message of the Bible.

If the world is perfect, then why does it contain imperfect beings? That just does not make sense. What is part of this world? Animals, plants, trees, etc? Humans are part of the world, and thus it is not perfect based on this reasoning.

Big Bang theory is one of the best shows on tv! <3 my mom swears I’m like Sheldon sometimes…

It’s quite obvious that religious arguments are trite. No one is going to change his or her opinion based on a thread on College Confidential. Why don’t we just get back to refreshing the Stanford admissions page and making false predictions of when the results will be release? :3

@smarts21

Did your mom have you tested?

@smarts21

You’re from texas… one condition met. :D

Are y’all all top 5% at your schools? Like is that a given?

Created, past tense. Perfection can be tainted.

Yeah top 5%, actually 1% lol
