Official Stanford SCEA 2017 Applicants' Discussion Thread

Imagine if the ■■■■■ face was in a rejection email

To all: Here’s an interesting video that describes the outlook on the admission process from an admission officer. [Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up - YouTube](<a href=“Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up (Official Music Video) - YouTube”>Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up (Official Music Video) - YouTube)

I was hoping for a reverse rick rolling.

Lol you did not do well at renaming that link.

Hey guys! So I’ve been following your discussion for like the past week and I finally decided to join too. I’m super nervous for tomorrow and none of my friends really get it so I figured I’d join so we can all freak out together. oh and I’m from Kansas like @stanfordmeow

@SocalPapa how much does a felony hurt your chances? what about 2 felonies and 4 misdemeanors? hopefully my essays make up for it (my roommate essay was pretty good)

You should be accepted by this magnificent example of wit.

Your roommate essay should make up for it as long as you didn’t accidentally call them cellmates.

@itsamber yayy! Not gonna lie, every since I’ve been in LA I love it, but there’s nothing like home sweet home :)

My whole application screams chemistry nerd (ie, mentioning that the password hint to my computer is integrate -d[A]/dt = k[A], fans of chemical kinetics should appreciate this  and the passcode to my iPad is 1201 or 12.01, the molar mass of carbon! my favorite element!)… I really hope the people who review my app enjoy chemistry or I’m in trouble. Even my email is a nerdy chem/tropic thunder pun.

honestly, I can only envision doing chemistry/chemistry-related work for the rest of my life. Or I wouldn’t know what to do with my life. I guess you could call me borderline obsessed. Is there anyone who feels the same way? Not necessarily with chemistry, but that you love something so much, you feel like nobody truly understands your love?

"REA Admission Decisions to be Released December 14
December 13, 2012

Restrictive Early Action applicant admission decisions will be communicated Friday, December 14, 2012 via email beginning at 3pm (Pacific Time). Please understand that while we will begin to send decisions at 3pm (Pacific Time), it may take several hours before your decision reaches you. If we encounter any technical glitches or your internet service provider blocks our email, delivery may be interrupted. As a result, we respectfully ask that you do not call or write to the Office of Undergraduate Admission to request your admission decision. We will not begin releasing decisions over the phone until next Wednesday, December 19, 2012.

We understand and empathize with your anxiety right now and we will do everything in our power to ensure that your admission decision reaches you as soon as possible. Your patience is greatly appreciated." from [Admission News : Stanford University](<a href=“Page Not Found : Stanford University”>Page Not Found : Stanford University)

:o

Good lord @daniel what did you do if you don’t mind sharing haha. Anyhow bill gates got a felony when he was 13 but got into harvard. Of course that was ~35 years ago when it’s acceptance rate was like 25%

@stanfordmeow really, I can’t wait to get away! It’s a great place to grow up but everyone calls where I live the joco bubble for a reason.

physics. hence my username XD

HAHAHAHA no way @itsamber… I am from the joco bubble, and it was a relief to get out!! blue valley or SM?

Haven’t posted here much, but I’ve actually gotten physically sick from worry. It’s scary to think that in less than 24 hours, we’ll finally know our results…
すごく心配しているんだ…

@Holocene: I haven’t seen your resume, but based on your charisma I think it would be a grave mistake for Stanford to reject you. I would actually be less excited about going, If I do get in, as I would have less confidence in the ability of the admission process to pick out an influential student body.

On a site note, this quote on the Harvard thread

is rather depressing, thankfully the students who posted these comments weren’t admitted- but I wonder what would some admitted students would of said, had they been rejected. Anyway, as someone else mentioned, lets all be cool and supportive tomorrow. (Of course I don’t think it would go any other way, as we’re all really chill)

If I don’t get in, this will seriously make up the worst week ever. I caught the stomach flu and I have been in bed the past two days and haven’t been able to eat anything. All I can do is lay here and worry. And sip on my Pedialyte.

True Life: I’m Addicted to Electrolyte Replacement Supplements.

@sophia7x I literally love anatomy and physiology. like, it’s a problem. I want to be a doctor, if you couldn’t have already guessed, and I can’t really see myself not talking about some obscure part of the human body everyday for the rest of my life.

@stanfordmeow no way, that’s so weird! I go to BVNW/ CAPS

Physics is life

do any of you know what the subject heading of their email will look like tomorrow? ie. will it be “Stanford Letter of Acceptance” or “Stanford REA Decision”, or “Stanford Admission Status”? I have an iphone will a banner alert…so I just want to know what to expect…will they announce your status in the heading or not?
