Writing (Rate Quality on 1-10 Scale; 10 as Best):[ul]
[] Essays (Include Subjects):
[li] Common App Main: My struggle to pick between two instruments I love dearly. Explained in detail why music means so much to me. (9.5)[/li][] EC Short Answer: How politics has affected how I see myself/the world around me. (9)
[] Intellectual Vitality: Perception v. Reality. Definitely too complicated for a short(er) essay question. I tried. (8 ish)
[] Roommate: Explaining why I’m a kinda-sorta social outcast (my issues with one of my closest friends and how what she ended up doing with her life affected me/my views on socializing). (8)
[] Why Stanford: It wasn’t heartfelt, thus I can’t remember what I wrote about… It probably also has to do with the fact that I wrote it at 10:00 the day it was due.(7)
[] Other:[/ul]
[] Teacher Recommendation #1: Math teacher for 3 consecutive years (10-12). I received the academic award in his class (though I was the youngest) in 10th and 11th grade, so I’m sure the letter wasn’t bad (I didn’t read it).
[] Teacher Recommendation #2: Honors and AP Chemistry teacher. I also received the academic award in both of his classes, and was awarded as best science student in my class during my junior year. I’m pretty sure this letter was also not too shabby (I didn’t read this one, either).
[] Counselor Rec: Didn’t read this one.
[] Additional Rec: None.
[] Interview: None.
[] Art Supplement: I did an on-campus audition with the cello professor. I also had a lesson with him before hand. I think it went pretty well. One of the pieces, I dont think I’ve ever played it better.
Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Strong music, strong science, and strong interest in politics that I reflect through volunteer hours and my essay.
[] Weaknesses: SAT scores and GPA.
[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: A broad range, yet very intense interests.
[] What would you have done differently?: Probably, I would have done better in school, although I am definitely not complaining. [/ul]
