Yea USA is going to the final. And I saw a friend of mine on TV who has a daughter on the team
Woohoo! US Women onto gold medal game in soccer. Great goal from Smith!
If y’all didn’t see the mens 1500 meter race. OMG. The ending is nuts but watch from the beginning.
OMG!! That was amazing!
The favorite went out too fast. What was he thinking? Nothing left in his tank.
Yes, because if were me running 1500 meters it would take most of the day, but the whole race doesn’t take that long so you can watch it all.
The Chinese divers are insane!!! Such beautiful dives. One woman got a few 10s!.. ![]()
Harvard’s doing pretty well with gold medals, Kristen Faulkner and Gabby Thomas.
The US universities are doing great! The boys (and girls) in the boats… the WR setting pole vaulter… the swimmers… the sprinters… ![]()
Just watched the men’s 1,500. What a wild race! The US runners saw an opportunity and were outta there! Woohoo
!!!
The girl from North Korea was sobbing afterwards.
I wasn’t sure if it was relief that she won a medal. Or disappointment that she didn’t win the gold.
So worried for her tbh
UT claims Gabby, too, as she got her master’s there.
And the men’s 1500 winner trains at Virginia tech now. My grad student niece is very excited. (As were we! I think we all cheered louder at that event than any other)
Life back home in North Korea might not be fun if she is labeled a failure as a result of all this.
Hope this isn’t deemed to be political----I think we can all agree North Korea is not a great place to live.
I doubt there was any realitic expectation the she could possibly win gold. The Chinese are so far ahead of everyone else. Beyond that, the race was for bronze which she won.
The mens 1500 was fun to watch. I think the American winner got a bit lucky in being able to find space on the inside.
He’s known for his kick. If the space wasn’t on the inside, I think he could have split the two ahead of him and gone down the middle, or to the outside. Where he got lucky, according to the announcers, was earlier in the race one of the leaders went off too fast and one of the others followed, and those were the ones that petered out.
And I say that like I have any idea how to run a race! (I don’t)
I don’t really care for the introduction of the runners in the finals where they come out to smoke and bright lights. That seems overkill and I doubt anyone in the stadium can see or hear that, and for those of us watching on TV we get to see maybe 3 runners introduced and then they cut it to the start. Noah Lyles might like it, but I think others want to just run.
From USNWR, USC has the most athletes in Paris. However, this CNBC tally lists which school has the most American athletes.
Assuming both stats are correct, USC has 59 athletes in Paris with 16 being American. Stanford has 54 athletes with 37 being American. UCLA has 34 athletes with 17 Americans.
It really highlights how many international athletes train in the US.
It always surprises me when an athlete from another country speaks perfect English (ex. Duplantis). I’m curious how many of the athletes competing for other countries were born in the US.
When did the track & field fashion show start? Was it with Flo Jo?
I’m always surprised that they can run with their necklaces whipping them in the face. ![]()
This US-Poland vball match is intense
