instead of doing spring admits, just do a wait list option.

@jg2290: Nice move.

man who cares about UCLA? I want cal

Am I the only one who wouldn’t mind being a spring admit? I DO wanna graduate asap, but I’d probably take a much needed vacation in the fall and winter.

I’d rather be a spring admit than not be admitted at all.

nero103-you a poli sci major. Cal is the better in poli sci and majors that do well on the LSAT

What time do decisions come out on Friday?

around 4-5pm

actually last year it was like 3ish…if you search a few pages back rshie found a thread

Do you guys think getting into UCLA is a good indicator of getting into Berkeley?
I’m an applied math major.
I have a low overall GPA: ~3.40 (which may not be so bad as last year 60% of people in my GPA range got into my major at Cal).
My major GPA is 3.85 (just one B).
I’ve gotten nothing but As in the last two years (all my bad grades are from a rocky, well-explained, freshman year at a four-year). This is technically my seventh year at a CCC since I’ve been taking CC classes semi-regularly since 9th grade. I’ll be IGETC certified.
I’m guessing UCLA’s review must be pretty humane (as in, grade trends and demonstrated interest are considered) if they accepted me and I’ve often heard that Berkeley’s review process is even more holistic.

@dmitry ucla’s process is barely humane as far as grade trends and demonstrated interest. sounds like you have a shot with the more holistic approach that berkeley has. sounds to me like you have a shot. but 3.40 for applied math is standard at berkeley? that surprises me, i figured it’d be much higher. but if that’s what you’ve seen then yeah, i think you definitely have a shot.

ditto what @melaniedear said…if I were a spring admit I’d be sooo happy. however, i learned that only those who are social science/humanities (L&S) majors could end up as spring admits, not interdisciplinary studies majors (american studies for me). when i visited cal a rep from the trsp center said that - and the postings i’ve seen from spring admits confirm this.

so being a spring admit is not possible in my scenario lol. fall 2011 it is! :D

really mytime?? i applied in the interdisciplinary studies division too - development studies, and was hoping for spring admission if anything. but yeah, i agree with those above. even if i had gotten into ucla for fall, but accepted into Cal for spring…still would choose Cal.

^ Yup, I didn’t know this until I visited Berkeley and was told this - for awhile I was imaging how I’d react to spring admission lol.

lol. same here. i feel like i had more of a chance knowing that spring was still an option. i would actually prefer to be a spring admit rather than a fall admit too…meh.

So would I, cherryvaseline.

Why can’t interdisciplinary majors be spring admits?

So… just to get this straight…

Right off the bat, you either get accepted, accepted as a Spring transfer or rejected?

What’s the Spring transfer all about?

if transfers get accepted it is usually for Fall. but they do accept a certain number of people (borderline im guessing?) for the spring term. thats all i could really tell you about that. reading past posts from last year, it seemed like there were a good number of people who got in as spring admits.

but yeah deanzatransfer, i wanna know why interdisciplinary studies aren’t accepted to spring too.

@deanza I’m not sure why only social science/humanities people are admitted for spring. Angela Skrivanich would be the one to ask about that tho - email ang@berkeley.edu if you’re really curious =) she’s the one that spoke to my group when i visited

@pessimistic only about 400 students of the 3,301 accepted in fall 2010 were spring admits. this page explains some of the reasoning for freshmen spring admits [Spring Admit FAQs - current](http://students.berkeley.edu/admissions/general.asp?id=171&navid=3684)
