eyethink: That’s awesome! It’s such a big school, it’s nice to have an “in”. I’m also in NorCal trying to re-gear for the transition to LA instead of Cal.

Oh okay! Well, I got really excited because that’d be pretty bomb to get into UCB. I didn’t call them but I don’t want to talk to some … b*tchy representative.

I posted this in the other thread too:

I just called the financial aid office. “Carl” answered and said the email was sent to everyone who filed a FAFSA, and it’s not an indicator of being accepted or denied because the Financial Aid Office is independent of the Admissions Office.

Hahaha what a fail! Okok thanks

^rattlehead

Realism wins… This is odd though… to all of the UCs I’ve been accepted to so far, my FA package didn’t appear until days after I was accepted… and I was never allowed to access it at UCLA.

well in that case, where’s my email cal??lol.
i guess not everyone gets it at the same time?

As long as we keep having people who submitted a FAFSA but who haven’t received an email, I’m going to stay optimistic. Historically, students who received the email were admitted, period.

Could the Finaid office not wait one day to email applicants? It’s a terrible practice to get people’s hopes up the day before admission decisions are announced.

Thanks. I’m concerned about the transition from semester to quarter.

Did anybody call the FA office last year and receive the same response?

If they TRUELY read my essay… admitted
If they skimmed through it to have dinner with the family… denied

@MASHlaugher:

I know right? I was hoping not to think about Berkeley at all and just go about my day normally. And what’s the first thing I see when I check my email? :(

lol pessimistic, i just read your location. i laughed out loud.

I can’t believe this email means anything; the size of the thread from last year is far too small to use it as proof, and so many folks in this thread have received it. Keep in mind, there are many more applicants who aren’t on CC; with only ~4000 admitted each year, its unlikely that nearly everyone on here would get in, even if this site generally attracts the most ambitious.

All I’m saying is, don’t get your hopes too high, since it would be a crushing blow to be denied tomorrow if you think the email means you’re in, but it really doesn’t.

Come on~! I do not want to be a bruin~!

I want to be a Bear~! Oski Bear~!

^I agree, we shouldn’t get our hopes too high… But I really think that if some people got the email last year and then got denied, at least one person would have posted that. I’ve not been able to find a single example of that.

sigh Why do they toy with us so?

eyethink: Yeah, me too. I’m still considering the summer session to help Transfers adjust, but they don’t offer any classes that I need or really want to take. I’m thinking I’ll just try to sit in on a few and get an idea of what to expect without actually giving up my whole summer.

@nick, perhaps they were so devastated they couldn’t manage to type it out, crying alone in a dark room. :D

How about we just ignore about e-mail and wait for tomorrow. I got an e-mail from UCB, but it doesnt mean anything. Wait for tomorrow guys. Friday FUN FUN FUN

Besides this “Carl” person is SUPPOSED TO SAY THAT! The fin. aid office ****ed up royally with not only sending out fin. aid e-mails BUT TWO of them LOL. They are just covering their asses.

I heard the financial aid office is given a list of admitted students to process financial aid for so I don’t think the email means NOTHING. But then again, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Also, clearly not everyone who filed for Fafsa got the email so I think “Carl’s” response is just a generic one.
