*Official UC Berkeley 2011 Transfer: Acceptance/Rejection Thread*

@taylor

depends on your major but in order of transfer easiness i would say

california community college
uc to uc
out of state/csu

probably better to do davis over santa barbara too, but if your major is better at SB then go there.

all in all though, MUCH better chance just going to a community college.

rshie is right.

CCC is the easiest, followed by other UCs, with all other schools (including CSUs) last.

If you’re dead set on Cal, attend a CCC.

It’s a gamble depending on what your major is. You might be stuck in CCC for 3 yrs + because of the budget cuts and the reduced amount of classes. So unless you really want to go to Cal as nick_sheu has said, I personally recommend just sticking with the colleges you’re already in (UCD, UT Austin and UCSB are good schools).

3.83 GPA, Economics, IGETC/Pre-reqs complete

@rshie002: ive read this entire thread lol…but that doesnt answer my question, i know ppl who didnt get emails still got in BUT i was wondering if those people randomly didnt get emails for an unknown reason OR if it was because they didnt fill out their fasfa/ file for financial aid? Because if it is the latter, then it seems there is no hope for the reast of us who filed/didnt get emails

adding to what xviral said, be happy with the school that you got accepted or the school you are in right now. I got into UCLA and will most likely SIR there regardless of my Berkeley decision.

As long as the university you got into is regionally accredited and is legitimate, just go to that specific school. UCLA, uc davis, the CSU system are all good higher institutions of learning.

If you want to go to grad school, all that grad school adcoms care about are your grades, test scores (GRE, MCAT, GMAT), Letters of recommendation and volunteer work.

@jenniferx

i’m wondering the same thing. i applied for FAFSA and didn’t get an email. so sick of these little what ifs popping up!! totally going insane. lol

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/919748-berkeley-financial-aid-email-acceptance-correlation-thread.html

Just wondering, do people who got the verification email have an EFC of 0?

Like I said in the other thread, perhaps they sent the email to everyone who didn’t get in, and that was the error they were talking about when people called them. I don’t mean to be pessimistic, there is just such a large amount of people who got the email.

Good find. Still no examples of someone getting the email and getting rejected.

@santacruzstefan

The theory would be more plausible if there hadn’t been similar email leaks in the past.

@naniwa

My EFC is like 4k. I got the email.

@nick but then why wouldn’t they have fixed the “leak”, after a couple years of it sending early confirmations? Unless its automated or something, or some student aide really blew it and clicked the wrong button or something.

hmm i was under the impression that schools typically only request verification for those with really low EFCs. guess not. now i really wonder who they pick for verification. is it just random?

@santacruz

Honestly, it doesn’t seem likely…I mean, there are already two people on this board who got the email AND were able to login to the financial aid page and see all of their awards. Do you really think that was just in error too?

Well, I don’t really know, thats why I’m trying to play devil’s advocate. Believe me, I REALLY want this to mean I’ve been accepted.

I got the FA email, they even asked me for missing documents…? But I’m trying to be neutral in case this means nothing. It would suck if they rejected after they’ve “created” our financial aid offers. Ok, guys, tomorrow, this time, we’ll know for sure.

^santacruzstefan

That’s why we need somebody with a 4.0 and amazing stats to reply saying that they’ve received the e-mail or somebody with a 2.5 or pre-reqs missing to reply and say that they’ve received the e-mail…
