@shishand80 ONCE YOU GO TO ORIENTATION (IT’S CALLED CALSO) AND GET YOUR TELEBEARS APPOINTMENT.
@music1990 is this it:
http://calso.berkeley.edu/c-transfer.html#dates
so even if i SIR and reserve a date, as a engineering student, my date to sign up for classes is june 9th?
@Mbraca92 U got the bridges transfer weekend ? Where did u check for that ? I didn’t get it :(. Is that for a selective group of people ?
@shishand80 Yeah pretty much. Check this out.

@music1990 sorry last question, so for CALSO, we also need to make appointments i see, would it be benefical to SIR asap and reserve an appointment soon ? like do they run out of spots and such?
I really wanted to see UCLA before SIR’ing but i see i really have no choice now…
@shishand80 No problem. Yeah they do run out of spots, but I’m not sure how quickly. You could SIR, and then retract it if you end up liking UCLA better. You would lose your $100 deposit though.
Just let me point out that Cal has the 3rd ranked engineering program in the country, but I’m sure you know that.
Is anyone going to the Orientation that is in Orange County? Would love to see some CC people there.
WAIT. I meant the Southern California reception…
NOW THERE’S A SEPARATE THING CALLED A CALSO…I thought they were the same but they aren’t…
DO WE HAVE TO GO TO A CALSO ORIENTATION to get a spot for registration?!
Can we do it online?
How does this work?
Because I heard that’s how you register for classes and such.
freaks out
@SmartWorker did your friends have decent EC’s? Or what made your acceptance so surprising?
http://on.fb.me/1J2rBFR New facebook group for transfers for all questions we’re all bound to have.
A little late to post but I got accepted!
My sister was pretty overjoyed when I told her (Cal Alum) I’m not sure it’s hit me yet and my options make me pretty excited for what’s to come!
I thought I read that CALSO is mandatory.
@music1990 so by this logic, i assume transfers technically cant take summer courses?
@zoeyschmoey what event??
“It is expected that all new students attend CalSO. However, we understand it might not be possible for you. Students who cannot attend will receive information about the next steps from their college and from New Student Services, including Tele-BEARS course registration appointments and Adviser Codes. If you can’t join us for CalSO, we encourage you to attend our makeup CalSO program immediately before classes begin. See this page for more information.”
@zoeyschmoey wait a minute ! We have an orientation that is in Oragne County ? Why didn’t I see anything on myEvents ?
Does anyone know when calso is for spring transfers?
@MikeSauce My friends didn’t tell me much about their apps, but they did complete all prereqs with A’s except calc 2, while I’m still taking calc 2, econ 2, and stats this semester! I am also very surprised because I was forced to drop out of USC due to financial reasons and I didn’t know how the UC’s would interpret that. By the way, I remember you had chanced me back in the day when I was a nervous applicant
@shishand80 Transfers CAN take summer courses! They even have a special program for it, and it’s called Transfer Edge. You can google it, or you can scroll down on your portal in the ‘messages’ section and find the direct link to it as well.
And there’s an event called “New Student Reception” they hold them at varied locations in the SoCal area. One is in the OC area, another in LA…etc etc…it’s to welcome new students and give them insight about the environment/experience that Berkeley offers. Alumni, professors, and current students speak/attend the event in order to further the knowledge of incoming transfers. You can sign up through your portal when you login to myberkeley and click on the ‘My Events’ tab. It will be one of the first ones on there. You can bring a max of two people with you and it’s usually at a ‘fancy’ hotel like the Hilton.
So to answer @boy561 Yes, there is a reception in the SoCal area.
However, I would like to inquire further about the CalSo event…so simply put…is it basically required? That’s why there’s a makeup version of one, right? It’s more of a ‘loss’ when it comes to registering for classes, right?
