Wrong thread

My daughter is miffed. No call. lol

To be honest if this ends up pushing me to Berkeley I know I’ll second guess myself for the next two years, but that level of financial support is such a huge assist to grad school dreams I’d have to be crazy to pass it up. I’d be looking at least a 17,000 dollar difference between UCLA and Berkeley over two years (taking into account the costs of relocation), which somebody from my background can’t pass up on the basis of something like student culture.

I think the kind of student culture you’re talking about exists in all top tier STEMS to certain degrees. I’ve heard about it at UCLA and certainly the Ivies would have it big time. It’s really all about the people you befriend.

So, what’s with the provisional contracts? My daughter has 66 transferable units end of spring, and it said maintain GPA, blah blah blah and that she’s not allowed to take any summer courses (not counting the UC). She wasn’t planning to, but I wonder why? She’s not near the transfer max.

Oh my post above. I meant the berkeley Twitter feed and the UCB transfers getting a call…

Are students receiving regents already notified?

I believe regents notifications come out early to mid-may.

Thank you @lindyk8 I’m planning to flight out to Berkeley next week, so I can see the campus.

Anyone know if it’s possible to see our old Berkeley supplement that we submitted in January?

I have a very TOUGH decision to make: UCLA vs Berkeley for Engineering. :-/

@Moshe1010 Do you know anything about the transfer dorms at Berkeley? If I end up going to UCB I will live in a transfer dorm and I was wondering if there’s any particular one that you think would be better to meet other transfer students. Also, if any are nicer/newer than the other ones. Thanks!

So I had to drop a course and I let my admissions officer know. I got an e-mail saying they’d review and would get back to me on how it’d affect my admit. Anyone know how long that should take?

Hey you guys,

I am trying to enroll in the Transfer Edge program and enrolling in summer classes at the moment.

I was wondering how do you figure out which class you are going to take…

I am a Political Science major with an emphasis on International Relations.

I just added a class on Middle East Politics because it seemed really interesting. I want to add more classes but obviously don’t want to add random classes that won’t fulfill any requirements.

Help? Please and thank you.

UCLA has called me like 4 times and once right after I SIRed to Berkeley. It’s like a stalker ex boyfriend.

@phonsinyb I’m also curious about how to find the old berkeley supplement!! let me know if you find out.

@WouldYouKindly
It’s funny, last year, Berkeley called me several times. UCLA only called me once, lol

It’s possible that the two schools call different students a varying number of times. Just speculating, but they may actually be competing for you. I remember you saying that you live a lot closer to Berkeley than LA, so it may be that Berkeley is more certain that you’ll SIR with them, and you have. LA probably calls students who were admitted from NorCal a lot more than the ones from SoCal because the former are less likely to go to UCLA than the latter. I went to Santa Monica College, so it’s possible that Berkeley called me so much more than UCLA did because of the likelihood that I’d SIR with UCLA instead. It’d also explain why UCLA only called me once; they knew with a high degree of certainty that I’d SIR with them instead, and I did.

All speculation, but this seems to be the best explanation of these two schools’ approach to getting students to SIR with them.

Hi @zoeyschmoey, congrats on Cal! If you have any questions on the polisci classes, feel free to message me. I’m a current Polisci major and I can tell you about the department (or IR classes) from a good perspective, not the website or advisor’s perspective lol.
