Hi everyone. I was also accepted into the College of L&S, but it says nothing about my major(Mathematics).
Does that mean I was not accepted into my major? And if so, what impact does that have on the classes I will be able to register for?
Did anyone receive the email to fill out the supplement questions in the Google doc form for the transfer weekend? I just got the email yesterday and wonder if it means I’m invited? :-?
@oldertrnsfrstdnt yes you are only admitted to the college, which means you have to fill out certain lower division courses and have minimum GPA to declare major.
This question may have been fully answered; however, I have not been following this thread and am too lazy to read through it. Nonetheless, how do we know if we are invited for regents scholarship?
@helloo0 no one in this thread is a freshmen since this is a transfer thread. I’m also in a similar situation. Accepted to UCLA for an impacted major for Fall 2015 and accepted to Cal for Spring 2016. It says the term that we are accepted for does not reflect any difference from other accepted students so it’s just your preference of which school you like better. If housing is an issue with your parents out of state, you can contact UCB housing or since you are a spring admit, you can work all of summer and fall, live where you currently do, save up, and find a room or apartment in the area with reasonable rent.
ALSO, anyone considering going to BRIDGES transfer weekend? I’m from SoCal so I’m not sure if I want to go since I’ll still have school the following Monday and 7-10 hour distance is no joke!
Decision: Accepted
Major: Political Science
Overall GPA: 3.92
EC’s & Essay: It is my humbled opinion that both aspects are strong–I visited UC Berkeley where I had an opportunity to have an admissions officer edit them for me. His opinion was that they were extremely strong.
I’ve already submitted my SIR to UC Berkeley. However, I wanted to take some time and leave my stats for several reasons. While I am a California resident, I am currently at a 4 year out of state university. This left me in an extremely unfavorable position. After being wait listed to UC Davis I thought I would be rejected to Cal. I am extremely humbled to have been accepted and out of all the UC’s, I firmly believe that Cal takes the most holistic approach to looking at applicants. While it isn’t easy, it is possible. Good luck to those who are appealing and to those who are applying for the cycle next year!
In the first attempt, I didn’t get a confirmation page AFTER submitting the payment, and so myBerkeleyApplication showed “incomplete” next to the SIR step.
In the second attempt (many hours later), the portal said that the problem “has been resolved and you can re-enter your credit card information.” When I actually completed the SIR submission this time by re-entering the card info, I found that my credit card was billed twice.
Has anyone been able to find CC threads about transfer UCB regents winners from the past? For some reason I can’t find anything… Their site says that they will not release regents for UCB until mid-may but I’m curious what the specs are like for those who are offered regents there.
@Lindyk8, LOL! I think that I may have committed twice.
I was probably double-billed because in the first attempt, the site actually received my credit card info, and I saw immediately on my card account that the $100 transaction went through.
But my SIR was still incomplete, and I thought that the directions to "re"enter the card info were for the purpose of confirming the earlier transaction, not for initializing another one.
Still, $100 is a significant amount for me, and I’ll do my best to get it back.
@infinitesome, Oh, I don’t know. Since it’s my money being used, after you posted that, I had her check. Nothing is showing yet on her billing statement. So I told her to recheck in a day or two. They will refund it, so don’t worry. My daughter said there was some sort of error, it couldn’t process. And then the next morning she just refreshed the page and it said it went through. She didn’t re-input anything. But then I don’t know, as I haven’t seen the bill. But they will definitely refund if that is the case.
I will say this. Last year when she was going to go to UCLA and then withdrew, it was SO MUCH EASIER. The system here seems really complicated, with all these additional sites to go to. MyBruin or whatever it was called was a simple interface to do everything in one location.
@lindyk8, thank you for giving me hope in seeing my Benjamin again!
I’m actually an international student here and in any case, I’ll have to ship a bag full of Benjamins to Berkeley ($0 financial aid/assistance are offered at any level) over the next two years. I just hate to waste those $100.
I’m glad I didn’t know this before admittances came out.
Last year, Berkeley received 624 more applications from transfer students than it did in 2013, yet it admitted marginally fewer students than the year before.
The article doesn’t say much more than the paragraph above, but it does say the budget cuts messed up all the campuses this year.
