When is Cal transfer day for newly admitted Berkeley/ Haas transfer students?
UCLA HSS Bruin day on May 9.
@HumbleTeen it’s a transfer bridge weekend from May 8-may11
…
@IWannaMakeDrugs I talked to a rep for Haas a month ago before I got in and she said it would be a case by case basis if you get one C. But I don’t understand why she said that on the phone, when on the myBerkeley page it now says our admittance is conditional if we don’t get anything LOWER than a C. @bmirza991 I am taking 5 classes, will definitely get 4 A’s. So do you think one C is so bad? It will likely be in Calc 2…
@lindy8 I think only a certain amount of ppl have this event under their tab bc of some reasons. I guess it’s based on whether students are underrepresented or they checked something when filling the app. It’s a free 3 days 2 night event to help students get to know Berkeley campus life. There is one new thread in this forum providing details about this event. You can check it out for information.
Here is it swebsite:
Anyone can sign up for the event though but will be first come first served. It happens same time as chancellor’s welcome speech which doesn’t limit spaces at all.
@bizmlover thx! I finally found it and yeah, that’s the explanation. Appreciate the response.
@HiRise8 : thank you!! I guess I lied, I forgot that I saw that thread awhile back but found it suspicious that only one person received it.
@lindyk8 sure no problem. You’ve helped us a lot on this forum! Beside the bridge weekend event, your daughter can check out the chancellor’s welcome speech event. It’s technically another open house day but in a smaller scale.
@SmartWorker I highly doubt that the C will do any damage, especially with 4 A’s…
on the other hand, I am only taking ONE class and may get a C.
@transferjay I’m going for the bridge event and from SoCal too! I’m doing carpool with my friends. If you want to go you can join with us!
Does anyone know about waitlists? I know you register at CalSo, but they confusingly say that a transfer student should “put themselves” onto the waitlist of this one required course as soon as possible. Is that doable before CalSo? @music1990 @ocnative??
Has anyone gotten their mailed admission packet yet? I want it! ;))
Not really. I was missing 4 required classes for Davis.
How do i sign up for the bridges event if i didnt get an invitation?
Is it possible to double major? I would at least need one more semester. I know there is a 4 semester limit.
Yes, you can double major with an extra semester @FUTUREUCLABRUIN1
That’s great. I might have to change my username/account. Before I make myself decision, I’m attending Bridges Weekend.
Because I am a giant pile of stupid, I created my CalNet account, wrote down my password on a piece of paper…and then threw that paper into the recycling bin. Definitely Berkeley-worthy intelligence right here. Anyway, does anyone know if there’s a way to retrieve your password directly, without having to contact the university?
@FUTUREUCLABRUIN1, FUTURECALBEAR1?
LOL! This way we will recognize you effortlessly.
I have a really urgent question ! My major is economics.I’m taking 5 classes right now including macro-econ and Cal2( the only class I think I may get a C). I have As in Cal 1 and Micro-econ. In my conditional contract, it says that:
3.0 or higher GPA for each term.
No grade lower than a C for any individual course.
ENGL 124: Advanced Composition: Critical Reasoning and Writing (grade of B or higher)
MATH 280: Analytic Geometry and Calculus II (for major preparation)
It seems like English is the only class that I can’t get a C in. However, to make sure that I’m on track and and allow to get a C in Cal 2 I emailed my admission advisor:
Dear blank,
I have a couple questions to ask you. My major is pre-economics under the college of letters and science. Currently, I am taking 5 classes : Business 121, Chinese 120, Econ 120, English 124, and Math 280. I am afraid that I may get a C in math 280. How crucial is that if I get a C in that class? The conditional contract did not indicate what grade I need for that class.
And this is what she emailed me back :
Dear …!
I copied this off the Economics web site:
Non-transfer students must have an average gpa of 3.0 in the prerequisite courses taken at Berkeley, and an average gpa of 3.0 in any prerequisite courses taken at another institution. Transfer students must have an average gpa of 3.0 in the prerequisite transfer courses, and an average gpa of 2.7 in prerequisite courses taken at Berkeley.
So, as I read this, Calculus is a prerequisite course, and you must have a B in the class if you wish to declare Econ by the end of fall term. If you are not going to receive a B in the class, you should consider not sending your SIR.
Which is so confusing !!! My major prerequisites include cal 1, cal 2, macro econ and micro econ. I have As in Micro (3 units ) and Cal 1 ( 5 units). So even if I get a C in cal 2 ( 4 units class ) and a B in macro ( 3 units ), my average gpa is still above 3.0 for my major.
Please someone help me with this !!! I’m getting paranoid right now
