Official UC Berkeley 2015 Transfer Thread

@FUTUREUCLABRUIN1 @bizmlover

Guys, how are you getting the confirmation for bridges? I signed up through the Google form and it mentioned that there is no guarantee towards a spot and that final notifications are to be given out on May 4th. Am I missing something here?

@slantrhymes here is the link to change calnet paraphrase in case you haven’t figured out:

@ActuaryorBust I don’t think anyone got email confirmation yet. I guess you most likely to hear from them from May 1 ~ 4. Last year students got email from the event coordinator on May 1st. Hopefully all of us can get invited! >_< it’ll be an awesome weekend!

@bizmlover thanks! Passphrase relocated, crisis averted.

@bizmlover Thanks! I went through their senior weekend hashtags and hope that transfer weekend is just as fun!

Also anyone know just how strict UCB is on their semester cap? I talked to a couple of alumni and got conflicting responses. The administration was mixed as well with admissions leaning toward lenient vs my specific department hinting to a strict 4 semesters.

I’m considering a non-summer study abroad program but am worried about it’s feasibility if I really am limited to 4 or 5 semesters at Cal. UCLA in comparison does not have a semester cap (that I know of) but enforces a strict unit cap so it could accommodate non-traditional exchange programs and a spread out load to maximize research experience.

@bizmlover thanks for the offer! That’s incredibly friendly of you. Unfortunately, I was schedule to work that all of that weekend.

I just checked my mailbox and haven’t spotted an acceptance package from Cal yet. I did just get my UCLA and UCSD packages early this week so I’m expecting this one next week or the following since decisions came out later! @SWEEP1989

Result: Rejected (April 24th)
Major: Physics (B.A.)
Community College GPA: 3.56
UC Transferrable GPA: 3.51
IGETC: Yes
Pre-requisites: Missing a programming class and didn’t say I was familiar with programming.

Other/Notes: I had an odd kind of GPA trend, unfortunately mostly downward trending with a B in my 1st phys (after withdrawing from it the previous semester), 1st chem, and 2nd calc courses; while I got a C in my 2nd phys, 3rd calc, and diff. eq… This was on top of withdrawing from 4 courses (honors bio during my 3rd and 4th regular semesters. However, I obtained A grades in all my other courses/pre-reqs (including Bio for science major and IGETC courses), including during a 12 unit summer session between my 4th and 5th regular semesters.

Applied: UCSB, UCB, UCLA, UCD, UCSD
Accepted: UCSB (TAG), UCD, UCSD
Rejected: UCLA, UCB

Does anyone know if you can pay the deferred SIR fee early? I just want to pay the $100 right now but it’s deferred… I couldn’t find anywhere to pay for it…

For students who are concerned about NOT getting notification for the Transfer Bridges weekend. Please understand that that this special no-cost programming is aimed at increasing the successful matriculation of students who are members of groups traditionally under-represented in a research-university setting, e.g. ESL, first-generation in college, socioeconomically disadvantaged, learning disabled, non-traditional, etc. No worries, just sucks to be WASP/C sometimes, j/k. :-*

I saw what appeared to be an acceptance letter on instagram. Looks like a flash drive too. Hopefully we get them tomorrow. **********.com/p/2KEwRAN8VK/

Is there any way to sign up for Transfer Bridges weekend if we meet those criteria but didn’t get an email? I’m disabled/qualify for EOP and didn’t get anything, lol. They called me about something but I didn’t get the phone in time.

EDIT: Can’t go anyways, UCLA’s stuff is that weekend as well. Bad timing.

Did anyone else get a really sad little brochure from Berkeley in the mail today? Is this our admissions packet?? :((

I was expecting something so much grander, haha!

Hope not, UCLA’s was slick. @gdkane Did it include an acceptance letter?

It certainly had the appearance of an acceptance letter. It was pretty unimpressive, the letter suggested I take advantage of cheap summer tuition. Like an email from an airline company.

Mine didn’t talk about summer classes, it just told me to go to a welcome reception and SIR. There wasn’t an official letter like I’ve gotten with every other UC. I don’t even think I’ll go to Berkeley, but I did want that official letter, lol.

@apocalypso That was what I got, a multi-fold brochure, the last tear-off leaf serving as a ticket to get in the reception, no letter. I have already SIR’d.

That little brochure is not the admittance packet. My daughter got that last year plus a packet in a large manila folder with a beautiful brochurey-type thing that opens like french doors with a picture of Sather Gate and a big personal welcome. As I recall, it came late. It’s really nice looking.

My daughter also got a letter about Transfer Edge. That’s not the packet.

That’s good to hear @lindyk8. My younger sister was shaking her head saying “Told you. You should have picked UCLA.”

Hey has anybody actually enrolled in courses online or does it all start at the CalSo appointment?
