Official UC Irvine Fall 2017 Transfer Applicant Thread

@Zygole I did hear back but I’m waitlisted so likely waiting until july to hear anything and the odds aren’t great

Alright guys that’s it for me participating here I think. I might try an appeal but doubt it’ll do anything. I guess I’m just gonna apply again next fall along with fullerton and other schools, gonna try to stay here in OC though. Considering applying for informatics instead of software engineering. Good luck to everyone else.

@TheLongRun - lmao i want whatever UCI is smoking

@lanterngirl me too im going to need it

Wow…4.0rejected. Econ major wtf?
Is uci out of thier mind? They think they’re “something” lol. My friend with 3.6 psych major also got denied. But accepted to ucla

I’ll be enrolling in Merage!

@BusinessBrah I’ll be enrolling in Merage

@TheLongRun Thank you! Thankfully my major at UCLA isn’t a pre-major. I don’t know how all the pre-majors work at all. I thought as juniors, transfers would automatically enter into the major. With my CC, Haas accepts 'Analytic Geometry and Calculus II (aka regular calculus) or Calculus for Management, Life Science, and Social Science I (what we call business calculus). I guess other schools are different?

got admitted into Irvine on the first day, but I decided to attend UCSB instead of UCI. I’m an Economics major for both schools so hopefully anyone on the waitlist will get my spot!

Accepted on April 19…

Major: Urban studies
GPA: 3.17
TAG: No tag
ECs: Admin assistant, Teacher Assistant, and AVID in High school. Very minimal EC’s in CCC.
Personal statements: Personal statements were 9.5/10. English professor and transfer counselor read them and said that they were really good and meaningful. I talked about my struggles during the first year of CCC, and what i had to do in order to improve my grades.
Accepted: UCSD,UCI,UCD,UCR,SDSU,CalPoly,CSUF
Rejected: CSULB

After i graduated high school i took a year off. When i went back to CCC, i failed most of my classes the first year. After that i went on a upward trend on getting A’s and B’s in my classes. If you can show them that you’re a comeback student, more than likely they’ll give you a chance!

I was in a really similar situation, but apparently that wasn’t enough for me case

@area21 I think that’s it. My CC’s assist.org page to UCB says Calculus and Analytical Geometry only. We only have one class for Applied.

Would you guys recommend Bus Econ at UCI or Bus Admin at UCR?

@DLoading Biz Econ in the houuuusee  well it also depends on what you want to do

Congrats to all of you who made it in, to those on the wait list… stand by I wish you luck. If you did not make it in, it’s ok, it may be for the best that you go to a different institution. Understand that many qualified students are turned down by UCI. I was turned down by Davis back when I applied there and UCLA, and it made me feel like maybe I wasn’t good enough. After a year at UCI I can say that I think anyone who is of average intelligence who is willing to work hard can succeede at any UC, at least when it comes to Social Science majors. It can take a little bit to accept a rejection by a school, but you will get past it, and wherever you do admit to will eventually seem to have been for the better. Anyone, who has worked as hard as you all have and come as far as you all have is a highly capable student, capable at least of earning their BA or BS. I know some people get a rejection like this and think, fuck it, I’ve got my AA I should take a break. I encourage you not to go down this road. It’s better to just get it done and behind you trust me, I took a break and it turned into many many years of chasing my own tail. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and make the best of the other opportunities that are there for you.

For those of you who are a little afraid of transfering, I was too, and my experience has been a good one. The key I think whenever you get to where you are going is to try and balance out your classes in terms of difficulty. If you take a quarter of all hardcore classes with hardcore professors you set yourself up, not just to do poorly but to then lose self confidence. So, investigate and plan ahead, look at possible future schedules by checking what professors teach what classes in certian quarters, see if any are truly predictable, and plan ahead what classes you would like to take when and with what profesors. I’ve been able to plan ahead like this by scheduling and keeping a balanced course load, it has made all the difference. List all your assignments for the quarter in a word document or something that you can go through and check off as you complete them. Make weekly and monthly schedules so you don’t have any surprises. I swear, 90% of success in a fast pace setting is planning ahead.

That’s enough out of me for this cohort. It’s been great seeing all of you work through the challenges that have come and passed over the preceeding year, and I’m confident that wherever you go, you will be successful. Zot Zot!

Has anyone received their admission packet in the mail yet?

Thanks @BackNSchool83!

@TransfertoUCLA - yeah I heard they took less than 300 people for business, and most of them were freshmen. I mean, they’re a decent school, but who do they think they are? They should at least have the decency to let us know that we’re wasting our time.

@abbcrig12 not yet!

Anyone going to May 5th event?
