Official UC Irvine Fall 2017 Transfer Applicant Thread

Are we required to submit the IGETC verification?
I chose No on my UC application!
If yes, should I ask the registrar to verify mine?

@truesciencelover No reason not to if you’ve completed the courses. It’s generally just a form, often online, that you fill out at your current CC, you’ll have to submit any official transcripts from any other CCs you’ve attended to them. They verify you have completed your IGETC and add it to your official transcript. So, once you submit your official transcript after this semester/quarter it’ll simply be on there.

@truesciencelover yes. They said you need to have a verification of the IGETC. Just the signed IGETC sheet you would get from a counselor.

@eyyyychem @abbcrig12
I’m transferring from another UC school and my official transcripts won’t get released until June 26th!
What Should I do now? :frowning:

@truesciencelover message your admission counselor

IGETC is worth it, just do it. If it shows on your transcripts that works too. I waited till my AA was on my transcripts and the IGETC too then had them sent to UCI. You need to petition for IGETC though just like a degree because IGETC is like a certificate of achievement.

If anyone wants advice that has proven to work for me as a PSB major at UCI who is a double major and taking a second AA at his community college PM me your email. I just put together a detailed email for a friend and it goes into a lot of detail about scheduling quarters and your time etc.

@BackNSchool83 Hey do you know if its possible to take summer classes at my CC and have them transfer on time to UCI? Or do they not allow students to take any courses at a CC anymore? It’s not like I have to take them but because I want to do a minor I need to take some prerequisites and was wondering if I can do some of them in my CC.

@DarthRadec09 You can do it. If it is required for you to transfer though you should contact admissions and ask them because that might be a different story, but I bet they would be ok with it if it’s one class. In my case I had over 70 units and I took a criminology class at a CC over the summer between graduation and UCI which I used to satisfy an lower division major requirement that was not required for me to transfer. What they do is pick which classes you have taken that are useful to count towards your degree and the rest are basically left out.

I haven’t received a welcome packet from UCI yet ):

Anyone else have a case of transferitis? Five more weeks left in this semester and at this point, I’m aiming for B’s rather than A’s for my transfer conditions.

My financial aid just updated!

Financial aid came out!

@truesciencelover
Does your current school do electronic transcripts? Transcripts aren’t due until July 1st, so maybe it might be a little faster?

Is anyone still waiting for an admission decision? It’s like the second week of May and I still didn’t get a notice yet.

Damn! UCI came thru with the financial aid! :smiley: I’m so overwhelmed with the amount too. Plus I qualified for the Blue and Gold Opportunity Plan and, I received Cal Grant B! :(( Everything is finally working out

Thanks for notifying the thread about financial aid everyone

@futurelawyer88
Just got my UCI packet today.

Does the UCI grant include the Blue and Gold plan? Or is it separate? Because when I logged in, it said “It appears that you may be eligible for UC’s Blue and Gold Opportunity Plan…If you are determined to be eligible, the additional funds you need to cover your system-wide fees will be added to your award after the start of fall quarter.”

I too also got my acceptance packet (about time!)

Did any one get Cal Grant in the financial aid package? I don’t know how this works, I didn’t have any eventho i submitted fafsa before March. Does it mean that if you get Blue and Gold then you won’t get Cal Grant? Or If my financial aid get updated with the Cal Grant later, UCI will reduce the university grant?
