Official UChicago 2017 RD Thread

I’m a conspiracy theorist. I had to send in my 2011 tax forms a little late and I got an email today saying “The Committee on College Aid is reviewing your financial aid application for the 2013-2014 academic year…your stuff is missing etc etc etc.”

Do colleges review your financial aid package regardless of admission or not? Or should I be getting excited. lol.

I got that as well and I’m not a stellar candidate.

Fairly certain the financial aid and admissions departments are separate.

CSIHSIS: There was a fiasco in the class of 2017 EA thread about that same email. It was concluded that the message does NOT mean anything more than you have missing FA materials and you checked the box that said you were planning to apply for FA. There were those who didn’t receive that email but got accepted (take me for example) and others who got that same email and got rejected. Franstar is correct in saying that financial aid and admissions are completely separate entities. My main word of advice is to not read into every little thing UChicago does because you’ll crack under pressure. No school is worth that. Soon enough you’ll be looking at an ‘accepted’ message in March and you’ll wonder why you worried at all :)

My GC told me UChicago sent her a blanket xD

lol, is it just me or has UChicago spent TONS of money this year on commercialization?

Probably why they got over 30,000 apps

Am I the only one who didn’t receive an article of clothing? Just mailed paper packets (6 or 7 of them)

Didn’t get anything but emails my senior year.

I got a shirt, a poster, and a pennant. shrug what am I going to do with them if I don’t end up at school there?

I got the banner thing and a poster, which I threw out :D

^ Same here. No t-shirt for me :(

Got the shirt, pennant, poster, and a pair of hipster glasses. It’s like I’m rolling in swag.

Oh, I forgot about the glasses! I definitely wear those around the house, lol.

^ Yup. They are pretty snazzy.

I applied RD

So guys, just curious: I had a spot of fafsa issues with the finaid office where I submitted it and they didn’t get it, but that worked out in the end. My question is, what does it mean when it says that my parents’ 2011 taxes have been waived? We faxed them in to the office already, but why “waived” and not “received”?

Is it common for guidance counselors to get UChicago blankets? o.O I want it to be a sign, but knowing that UChicago’s been advertising so much, I’m assuming it means nothing…

Also, I got a shirt, poster, and glasses from them. Haha. Oh, and a few weeks before they deferred me EA, I got a pennant. -_-

I got the pennant and poster but no clothing.

so do any of you guys have reliable predictions for the time/date and method of decisions being released? I thought I heard it was March 22 last year but I’ve just been looking on CC forums and couldn’t find anything…
