Official UCI Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

@dannybui9 I’m coming from the Coast District. I can’t really say I’m coming from any one particular school because my units are spread across Orange Coast College, Coastline, and Golden West. As far as pure units go, though, most of them are from Coastline. I think I’ll have something like 37 from Coastline, 27 from Orange Coast, and 6 from Golden West. The record will probably have me as an Orange Coast transfer, though (they’re going to certify my IGETC when the time comes).

What about you?

I got 49 of my units from OCC

@Cheolf Most of my units are from IVC. A few here and there from Saddleback, GWC, and OCC. Can you imagine the pain of sending in transcripts to schools? Haha. This is actually second time applying to UCI. I finished my transfer last year and applied for Fall 15. Got into all my schools except UCI. At the time, I had 62 transferrable units towards a UC. However for UCI, they considered two of my classes at equivalents. Instead of receiving 6 units, I got 3. Put me at 59 units towards UCI with TAG. I got into all my other UCs and Cal States but was set on UCI.

Would you guys be willing to tell me what you think my chances are of getting in at UCI? It’s my first choice school.
Major: Business Economics
UC transferable GPA: 3.84
TAG: No
Courses: I believe I hit all of the transfer requirements, both general education and major, and I also have some extra classes, like a statistics class and an accounting class.

Volunteering:
Gang Reduction Intervention Partnership: Volunteer tutor for junior and senior year of high school
Free French tutor: senior year of high school

Work Experience:
Summer internship under the industrial engineer at KOMAR (last summer)
Summer camp teacher (Last Summer)
Math tutor (first year of college)

Awards: I have about 5 academic awards from high school

Extra Curriculars:
President of high school guitar club
Vice president of high school French club
Cross Country freshman and sophomore year
CYOSC orchestra freshman and sophomore year

Personal Statements: I wrote one about my dad and the way he has inspired me as a person, and I wrote the one about why I chose my major about how I’ve always liked business, starting when I was a kid and I made my first “business” selling my Halloween candy back to my parents. I feel like they were decent, with a good mix of humor, but also some serious stuff and sticking to the prompts.

Other notes: I’m taking my credits to transfer from Saddleback College and Irvine Valley College, though I initially spent one quarter at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I’ve pretty much accepted that none of those units will transfer.

I also applied at UC Riverside, Cal State Fullerton, Cal Poly Pamona (accepted), and Cal State Long Beach (rejected)

You’re in
I don’t understand the long beachh thing but whatever. They suck anyway

You don’t have much to worry about zombieprincess, I have high hope for you.

This year it seems that CSULB really went all out with the rejection letters, I know so many well-qualified applicants who got rejected…

Has anyone heard back from UCI yet? This wait is KILLING me…

Last year, UCI sent out letters late April

That is true, however some who received regents last year heard in mid-March and early April.

Mid March .-. That’s insane! However Irvine is my last choice in schools

@Countchocula25 I presume you live nearby? I do, and Irvine is also my last choice. It is basically my safety (not really academically, but financially). Regents could tempt me, but even then it is a stretch. If I don’t get regents, there’s no way I’d attend unless absolutely necessary. I’d probably be one of the commuters who gives the school that commuter vibe. I’m not looking to be a part of and contribute to that!

looks like they’ll start posting Mid-April and have rolling notifications thereafter but their website says all transfer admissions will be posted by April 30.

Yeah as a matter of fact I’m from Irvine. It’s also my safety school. I’d take riverside over UCI. UCI personally just had a really boring feel to it and I want to be out of Orange County and out of Southern California @Cheolf

@ananguiano
I feel you. My GPA isn’t to great either but I also applied. I figure if you don’t apply you have no chance at all.
I also have a gap, but it’s not a problem if you explain it. And “W” are nothing to worry about, especially if it’s just one.

Anyone else having problems logging into the MyAdmissions portal? It won’t load for me, it’ll just keep refreshing.
I’ve been trying to go here: http://www.admissions.uci.edu/ then I click the “MyAdmissions” tab on top.

Try this one
https://login.uci.edu/ucinetid/webauth?return_url=https://services.admissions.uci.edu:8443/cgi-bin/myadmission.cgi?action=loginwebauth

Lol it’s the same thing. Have you created your UCInetId?

Yeah I did, I’ve been able to log into portal.uci.edu but I don’t see any admission information there. It’s just “MyAdmissions” that isn’t loading. Maybe it’s the stupid school wifi, I’ll try again at home later. [-(

Oh ok

Yup… it might be your internet. I am able to login just fine… stil hasn’t changed :((
