Official UCI Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

@LopApo I don’t know. I lean toward “no” based on Google results, though.

Here is some anecdotal evidence from the 2014 transfer thread http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1584645-uci-transfer-2014-decisions-p10.html

Obviously that’s not an official source. We won’t know when they start coming out until people on this forum get the notification that they received it. Hopefully they will start coming out in March. But I find no evidence pointing to the possibility of them coming out before decisions.

Wow, some were even accepted at the beg. of March with regents. That’s pretty cool. Hopefully that’s us :)>-

PLEASE CHANCE ME! :slight_smile:

@floreIsflower I’d give you a 90% chance

Is anyone here applying as a transfer to UCI Business school? :slight_smile:

@Yuanqii I am :wink:

Hi UC to UC transfer here (from UCR)
Major: Public Health Policy
GPA: 3.22 (yes I know this combined with being an intercampus applicant makes my chances low)
UCR GEs done so I should receive reciprocity
Prereqs: done
ECs: involvement in some volunteering based student orgs

Anyone else applying as Comp Sci? What GPA would be competitive for that major? I’m a little nervous because on the ASSIST page it said “two quarters of coursework equivalent to UCI’s MATH 2A - MATH 2B, or one year of coursework equivalent to other major-related math courses is acceptable” so I did I&C SCI 6D (discrete math) and Math 3A (linear algebra) instead of Math 2A-2B (I did Math 1B-1D, but I’m missing 1A because I accidentally skipped it. Other than that, I think I fulfilled all the prereqs and IGETC.

Who else received this email?

"Hello,

I would like to make you aware of a scholarship opportunity that you may be eligible for contingent on you being admitted as a student at UC Irvine.

The Stanley Behrens Foundation Scholarship is awarded to an Orange County Community College Transfer Student who has demonstrated recognizable talents and will be attending UC Irvine in the fall of 2016. The award is a conditionally renewable $2,500 scholarship and is contingent upon the applicant being admitted to UC Irvine.

• Minimum transfer GPA of 3.5;
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident;
• Family income not exceeding approximately $110,000 annually;
• Highly motivated to succeed;
• Involved in charity or community affairs;
• While attending UCI, the student will:
o Donate 90 hours of community service each school year to a cause of his/her choice;
o Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above;
o Work for a salary no more than 12-15 hours per week while school is in session;

Now, if only I had some kind of volunteer work!

@Cheolf are you a student in Orange County?

@boxandwhiskers Yes, I am.

@Cheolf Random side note: I actually met Stanley Behrens outside of my workplace a couple of months ago. He was an intense guy, much like these scholarship restrictions.

@Cheolf Sounds fantastic. Are you involved in anything that could loosely be categorized as “community affairs”?

Major: Math
UC Transferable GPA: 3.2
IGETC: Finishing up foreign language requirement this semester.
Tag: No.
Prereqs: ‘A’ in 2/5 of them. completing other 3/5 this semester (predicted 2 ‘A’ and 1 ‘B’ grades)
ECs: none

I know UCI seems a bit of a longshot with my gpa but I’m going to go visit tomorrow since I’ve never seen the campus and I live relatively close in LA.

I had a semester long gap AND the semester I came back to school I only have one ‘W’ grade for, but they haven’t asked for any explanation there. I put something in the comments about it but I’m not sure what I wrote…

@Cheolf I got that email too. Those requirements are so intense.

I got the same email, except I’m not a transfer student

Get outta here freshman

@dannybui9 Also, notice this:

The Stanley Behrens Foundation Scholarship is awarded to an Orange County Community College Transfer Student.

So, all of those requirements and it seems only one person gets it. Thanks but no thanks!

Yeah that’s a bit much

@Cheolf Wow, I didn’t even notice that part. I really thought about doing it too. What CC are you coming from?
