Official UCI Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

Wowza. 3 children and you’ve got yourself on the road to a UC? Kudos @sugarbabies3

@poochindapooch @sugarbabies3 Okay, I just checked again and it turns out I did receive a regents scholarship! It says so on the top right corner. Lol my mistake! Thanks again for the congratulations

@poochindapooch yep lol. It’s actually my husband that’s UC bound. I will continue getting my pre-reqs for nursing done once we move.

@Fall2016Transfer Yay congrats!! From what I heard, it’s easy to miss.

Well that’s great. Both of you. Good to see people value education enough to do take it on with 3 babies(children)! I just like saying babies.

Lol thanks, and that’s ok I call them my babies all the time.

Also just checked my portal and got in with Regents and CHP!

Congrats on your acceptances as UCI and UCSD @themightybicycle! Did you just check UCI? or did you check yesterday (with there being no update)?

Congrats @themightybicycle !

I just found out I was admitted to UCSD. Do you know if you got Regents for there as well? Do you know how I can check?

Hoping my UCI TAG notification of acceptance comes through!

thank you guys!
@sugarbabies3 I knew about UCI since I tagged it, but I checked the portal in the early morning and realized I had gotten Regents as well! Neither UCI or UCSD sent an email; I just checked the portals.

@POTUS2040 Congrats on UCSD! I don’t know if I got regents there or where/when they will be posted; however, I do know that Berkeley and UCLA notify transfer applicants if they got Regents a little while after you’ve been admitted. So I assume UCSD is the same way? b-(

@themightybicycle nice! My husband tagged UCI too, but I’m not sure when he’ll hear back since his major is mechanical engineering.

All of the people who have received Regents so far seem to have been social sciences. I wonder if they released them that way? Or maybe (probably) it’s coincidental?

They also seem to all have been part of the honors program but that might be coincidental as well.

@LopApo They’re probably both coincidental.

If I recall correctly from last year, Regents recipients who weren’t honors to honors started receiving decisions around April 7-9.

I’m an Honors to Honors student and also received my acceptance/regents today.

I’m an Electrical Engineering major as well, and I’m very excited to go to UCI! I wish everyone here the best of luck and hope that you all get in!

Congrats to those accepted!!

Alright so at this point I’m assuming we will not be receiving an early admission decision on our TAG application? Can anyone clear that up? Thank you.

What are my chances?
I know I’m far far away from the ideal candidate figure but I still applied.

from Michigan State University
GPA 3.1603
Major Business Administration
Second Choice - Economics
finished every IGETC except for one English course (It’s just my guess. I don’t know my credits are transferable or not)
Applied to USC, UCSD, UCI, UCD, Penn LPS, UW Madison, UMich, UIUC, Ohio State, Purdue
Accepted to UIUC, Ohio State

I have no idea 127, I’ve heard it’s harder for out of state applicants and that GPA is expected to be even higher for them. I applied with a 3.1 but have upgraded to a 3.3 and will leave with almost a 3.5 at my CC, and for me it’s also up in the air. I was told a 3.1 provided I did well the semester that followed still technically qualified, but that I would need good personal statements and an explanation of my poorer grades from the past. I feel I did a good job on the personal statements, and I had a good semester for the Fall 15 grades update. The average GPA is about a 3.4-3.5 for transfer students in state. If you had good personal statements and were able to distinguish yourself as being a capable student in spite of what the UCs consider a lower GPA then you have a shot, but it’s in my opinion more likely that you will get wait listed, hate to tell you that, and that may happen to me as well. Whats wrong with MSU ?
