Official UCI Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

@Panorama14 TAG doesn’t give you early admission. Here’s an excerpt from my TAG decision.

"UC Irvine does not provide early admission evaluation or early admission decisions as part of its
TAG program. Once you apply to UC Irvine for transfer admission, we will review your TAG and notify
you of your transfer admission status by the end of April. "

No engineering yet?

hoping i get in, although UCSB is my goal!
applying from UC Merced as a gender studies major w a 3.48 GPA

also, this thread is really hard to find for some reaoson

Cross-posting from other threads. I hope that’s okay.

Major: Psychology
Alternate Choice: Psychology and Social Behavior
UC GPA: 3.32
Major GPA: 3.58 for Psychology (I got a C in stats last semester, which was disappointing and sank my GPA, and the other major requirements are currently in progress, so I can’t count them yet.) 3.2 for Psych/Social Behavior
Prerequisites: Done Except for Calculus for Psychology (will be done in the summer if accepted), Missing Criminology for Social Behavior (which can also be taken in the summer).
TAG: No, I tagged UCSC instead.
ECs: Community college honors program, president of two clubs, member of another, employed as a College Relations Ambassador, and was once an intern for 7 Cups (though I don’t know how highly they’re going to value that due to the fact that it’s an online internship instead of an in-person one).

I’m honestly afraid that I’m going to get denied. I have this really sketchy academic history that goes from super awful to great after taking a two-year break from school, but then my grades dipped super low last semester because I took too many classes at once (I got a 2.95 GPA after having straight As for three semesters). I guess I’ll find out in April :\

I know i’m late to the thread but here are my stats, what are my chances?
College GPA: 3.34
Major: Sociology.
IGETC: Completed by the end of this semester
EC: board member of a couple of clubs, internships, some sports, volunteering.

100789 how many classes were you taking when your grades dipped? are you at a CC? Also you mention needing criminology to go into PSB, but I don’t see that with Assist…http://www.assist.org/web-assist/welcome.html

@BackNSchool83 I was taking 27 semester units, which was 7 classes–trig, stats, chemistry, biology, psychology, Spanish, and linguistics. I dropped trig, and then it was 24 units. According to Assist, it’s the UCI class of Crim/Law 7. Tell me if you find it and I’ll screencap it so you can see what I see.

Ok I think I see what you mean … so on mine on the left side on assist it says
CRM/LAW C7 and on the right side that shows what I’m supposed to take it says “no course articulated”

So not sure what that means in terms of what is expected of me to fulfill my end of the transfer, no one has flagged me on that or said I needed to take the CRM class. I’m getting an ADT maybe that is why.

it also says you aren’t required to complete all prereqs as a transfer student. If you are at a CC then is there a class you can take to fulfill it or how are you getting that credit? BTW amazing that you took that many units, that’s crazy, don’t give yourself a hard time for getting practically a 3.0 with 27 units.

@BackNSchool83 I’m a PSB major and that CRM/LAW C7 class is also a part of my requirements. I go to Irvine Valley College and they happened to have a class that fulfills that requirement.

@BackNSchool83 Mine has an articulated course from my CC. I honestly want to have all the pre-reqs completed before I move on. I don’t mind having to take summer school to fulfill that requirement if it gets me out of having to take a lower division course that could have been accomplished at a CC. But thank you for the compliment! I just hope the UCs take that perspective when it comes to reviewing my apps. I would think they would question why I was taking 27 units in a semester in the first place. :expressionless:

I just found that link which lists the # of people that applied and the # of people that were accepted to specific majors.

Well Danny I’m at saddleback so we’re sister schools. I’m gonna talk to someone at UCI before summer, if it’s best I take that class I’ll see if it’s offered for summer at ivc. I’m already full time in summer though so it would be a stretch.

@BackNSchool83 They offer it in the summer. Take it with Professor McCaughey. It’s called AJ 2- Introduction to Administration of Justice. There are two sections offered online. I took it two summers ago. It was probably the easiest class I’ve taken. Here’s the link to IVC’s Class Schedule.

Hello, Political Science / IR major here. I haven’t heard anything yet.
Would you guys advise me if I’m competitive as a transfer student?

GPA: 3.5
Major: Poli.Sci / IR
Applied: All UCs except Merced. and Santa Cruz
Admitted: UC Riverside
IGETC: Will completed by this Spring. (Only 2 subjects were left when I submitted the UC Application)
Pre-Req.: Finished except 1 or 2.
Tag: N/A

  • I had a dramatic grade improvement

Wish you guys the best of luck!

Thank you.

Wow last year, UCI accepted only 3% of its Business Admin applicants for transfer students. Very surprising.

That’s a lower admit rate than HAAS (5.6%) 8-}

I just checked spam and I got an email a week ago saying my status had changed so I looked right now…

Accepted with Regents and CHP!
Status: Accepted
Major: Sociology
GPA: 3.75
E.C: Phi Theta Kappa, SBCC honors, part time work, variety of community service
Essays: 8/10
Applied: UCLA, Berkeley, UCSB, UCI, USC, CSULB, LMU, USF
Admitted: UCI, CSULB
Pending: the rest

I’m shocked the BizAdmin rate is so low. The requirements on assist don’t look bad at all. I know the Haas rate is so low because many applicants don’t have all of the required courses completed - the Haas admit rate among those who have completed all required courses is around 18-20%, which is still competitive, but nowhere near 3%.

The courses on assist page for UCI’s program are required, however. That may explain the low rate, somewhat. Only 60 students were offered admission last year.

Congratulations sbccstudent, hard work is paying off.
