Official UCI Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

I’m glad to see some transfer students finally hearing from admissions. I hope I hear back from nursing admissions soon.

Do any of you know how the admissions process works for supplemental applications? Who do you hear from first, the program or the school? I hope I am one of the select few that get into the transfer nursing program.

I forgot to say congratulations @sbccstudent19

Hey so I thought most nurses did everything at a CC to become RN. Are you working towards becoming an NP or what’s your plan? You know in the psychology field you could always join in the fun as a psychiatric nurse…

Did any business majors receive admissions decisions already?

For nursing, you hear back from the school first. Good luck!

I went down to UCI today and spoke with them about general transfer stuff. I was told that we will hear between April 1 and April 30 about transfer admissions. We should get IGETC certified ASAP and turn it in to UCI admissions if we are accepted, so they have it on file. Students often have found out they had GEs they had to do over etc, it can hang up your graduation in the future, so get all your general ed courses IGETC certified by your CC. I was able to request an IGETC certification when I petitioned for my AAT, so it may be a similar procedure for you. We will have an orientation where we actually register for classes there, they review what is needed with us all as a group and you check off what is done and what is not done, so you might want to go through ASSIST and confirm what you are using counts properly. She also suggested not taking more than 12 units, that’s 3 classes the first quarter so that you aren’t overloaded and end up with bad grades, ease into the quarter system don’t over do it. That’s what I got out of my visit today, that and it was a beautiful day and the campus complimented it well, not overly crowded, lots of trees and cool buildings, that big park in the center… it was quite pleasant actually. Best of luck to those of you who are waiting to hear back, I guess we can stop checking the portal till April fools day.

@BackNSchool83 Thanks for all the quality information!

app status page down for anyone else?

@Smoon12 it’s down for me too.

@sbccstudent19 congratulations:)!!!

Page is probably down because freshman decisions are coming out right now… Hopefully some transfers decisions come out too!

It looks highly doubtful that we’ll see any more transfer decisions until April. If last year is any indication, we’ll see non-CHP Regents recipients get decisions in early April. As for everyone else, decisions will likely be closer to UCLA’s date, unfortunately.

I just looked on UCI Admission’s Facebook. Here is a post from 9 hours ago:

“The freshmen have just started to be released. Transfers will not be released until next month.”

Why do transfers get decisions later? For like every school I mean

Maybe freshmen are more important.

My boyfriend and I go to a community college in Orange County and we were both accepted this week as honors to honors transfers and got regents scholarships. Our emails to check our updated app status page came in spam, so I would add uci_oars@espicard.oars-uadm.uci.edu to your contact list if you’re still waiting to hear back. Good luck!

I actually completed my prerequisites at a four year university. UCI requires much more courses for entry than most private/CSU. It just so happened that I completed 90% of the prerequisites for UCI so i decided to apply. I was told by an admissions officer that attending a four-year university would have zero impact on my decision, so I am pretty optimistic.

@bolognese I think it’s because the UC schools try to keep a certain ratio of freshman admits to transfer admits. 1 transfer for every 3 freshmen if I remember correctly. It might just be easier for them to admit most of the freshmen first so they don’t mess it up. They also probably need more time to process our applications since we updated them in January and freshman applicants don’t.

still waiting for UCI decision.

Most of us won’t hear till April

I can’t wait that long :frowning:
